You’re probably seeing Venus in the morning, and for the past few months Jupiter has been especially brilliant in the evenings.

Keep an eye on Orion in case Betelgeuse finally decides to let loose....

Betelgeuse

"Ah. Well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY TIME!"

Right, I used to assume a bright planet was Venus, but quite often it is Jupiter. With a decent telescope you can make out the planet and several of the moons quite nicely.

I’ve been wondering what Orion should be called after the big B blows?
