In the main, I’m with the employer. BUT...set up plenty of video monitors and/or BLASTING radio reports of the Super Bowl game for general morale.

That's pretty much how I see it.

And as the article states, there are always people who aren't football fans. The die-hard fans can probably make shift-trade deals so that their position is covered and they can enjoy the game.

The military is allowing late reporting on Monday for non-essentials because the game is at around 3:00 a.m. here.

Remember, steel foundries have to function WITHOUT INTERUPTION! (Unless as part of a planned shutdown) The process involves metallic steel flowing continuously. If the flow is interrupted, the steel solidifies, and the entire factory becomes a useless piece of junk. Planned shutdowns and restarts take weeks, so they do not occur for one day athletic events. Management must make absolutely certain that a sufficient workforce is on the job.

Howdy!!!

Yes indeed - they’re having a big hoedown here as well beginning in the wee hours.
There wil be much merriment, I’m sure.
We have had non-stop heavy snowfall all day. The Super Bowl party will be an uplift to an otherwise dreary crowd.

Hope all is well.

We have this great invention called "DVR" - why not make use of it so that the game can be watched at a more reasonable hour? Also, I would not ever want to classify myself as a "non-essential" person. Non-essential workers are disposable.

Being from New England, I've had my hometown team in the Super Bowl a number of times over the past 10 years, never an issue with showing up for work on time Monday morning. But there are some people out there with all kinds of excuses for not showing up for work.
