NRA Life Membership - Are higher levels worth it?

Posted on 02/07/2011 11:08:50 AM PST by GreaterSwiss

Looking to upgrade from a basic life membership to Patron or Benefactor. Is there any benefit to the new level?

“A life member for quite some time, they won’t send me the magazines unless I re-up.”

I doubt that, unless you moved and didn’t notify them of your new address. I don’t send extra money and won’t as long as they support RINOs, and won’t upgrade either but still get the mag and replacement membership cards.

Before ‘61 here Rell. With much regret I had to leave in 2009 due to the fact I learned of the REAL work of Grover Norquist. ANY org. who would allow to be nominated, let alone seat, to their board, a one Grover Norquist will not have my continued membership. GN is one of the stateside muslim terrorist front group, C.A.I.R’s, agenda setters, fund raisers, and DC lobbyists. The NRA KNEW of his anti-American activities and STILL kept him on. The once great NRA....I sent a small fortune their way over the long years...How could I have been so damn stupid? I still do not have an answer to that I am sad to say.

All you can do is continue to get the word out, as you have been doing. People are now opening their eyes and seeing the damage that the NRA has done to the Second Amendment.

During the past year with the NRA stepping on its crank almost daily, people began to see the deception being played on them and many have awakened and jumped in the fight, they are no longer uneasy about hammering anti-american groups that are actively fighting the American Citizen and the Republics re-emergence.

Keep up the good fight!

So there’s no extra benefit in becoming an endowment vs reg life member?

I bit the bullet back in 1996 to become a Benefactor member and like everyone who is a member currently contemplating an upgrade there will be no letup of solicitations. They take it from where ever they can get it but it does feel good when u go to the conventions to be able to stand up in a packed room when they call for all of the Life, Patron, Endowment and Benefactors to stand and be counted.

There’s always about 10-12 Benefactors attending the meeting of members on the Saturday of the convention.

I stumbled across this thread and I am simply amazed by what is posted here. This is an old thread but I simply had to reply to it. I have never seen such misinformation or idiotic posts in my entire life. I mean that literally. Almost everything posted here about the NRA is incorrect and some of it seems to be written by drooling idiots. The sad thing is that the gist of the thread bashes the NRA which has done more to defend our 2nd Amendment Rights than any organization. Why in the world would people who supposedly support freedom and the Constitution bash an organization that has done more for their cause than almost any organization in history? Not only is this thread loaded with idiotic misinformation, but most of it is exactly the opposite of the truth. Is this what the Free Republic is all about - just bashing everything? The NRA is a anti-gun socialist organization?????? What drugs are you people on? And you have even bashed at least one individual, claiming he is a terrorist when, in fact, he is a free market, small government, Tea Party libertarian.

What is wrong with you people? Do you read? Did you finish grade school?

And why are idiots here complaining about what they “get” from the NRA when they should be more concerned about what they do FOR the NRA which, in turn, has done so much to protect their Constitutional Rights?

Not only is this thread literally loaded with misinformation, it's also filled with lies. For example, the person who claimed that he is a Life Member but the NRA refuses to send him his magazines is a bald-faced liar.

Unbelievable!

BTW, the NRA has been a huge opponent of Harry Reid ever since he has become anti-gun. Reid is terrified of the NRA.

Get a clue, folks!

I read your reply just now.

This July, I upgraded to NRA Benefactor. No, the NRA isn’t perfect and I don’t agree with every endorsement. Yes, there are other good organizations BUT the NRA is the foremost.

Fellow freepers, keep in mind that Bloomturd (Bloomberg) donated $50 million to the anti-freedom cause. I calculate that as .0016 of his net worth of 33 billion or .16%. Have any of the detractors on this old thread have done anything remotely close? For the sake of argument, this can include the toatal of donations to any and all pro-firearms civil rights organizations.

Another thing, although the NRA doesn’t publicize it, you can call or e-mail NRA membership and ask them to set what they call the “do not promote ‘flag’” You won’t receive requests for money after you have done so (or if you do, it will be very few).

I do agree with what many have said in this respect—if I were running ANY organization and a member asked me to ask only occasionally for funds in addition to membership dues or not to ask at all, I would honor the request.

NRA had done more for 2nd amendment rights than any other organization in the nation. They are NOT perfect, but these NRA bashers sound more like obama plants to me....
