Natalie Holloway murder suspect, Joran van der Sloot, has been ominously quiet for quite a while. That's not surprising since he's been languishing in Peru's Miguel Castro Castro prison since June awaiting the completion of the investigation of Stephany Flores's murder. On January 15th however, Van der Sloot suddenly decided to lunge back into the headlines by stabbing a guard and then attempting to hold him hostage in a crazy, and therefore unsuccessful attempt to break out of prison.
According to the National Enquirer, Van der Sloot suddenly "freaked out" when guard, Luis Gavancho, brought a tray of food into his cell. Joran threw the tray against the wall, and when Gavancho tried to subdue him, he stabbed the prison guard in the face with a homemade "shiv." When other guards arrived on the scene, they found Joran holding the bloody Gavancho in a choke hold while "wielding the knife in his free hand." Needless to say, Joran was overpowered and his escape attempt foiled.
And what on earth could have prompted the accused murderer to think he could fight his way out of the infamous Peruvian prison with a bleeding hostage and a homemade shiv? Cocaine, of course. Or as one source explained:
"In his drugged state, he probably imagined he could hold the guard hostage and maybe escape." Right.
Latin American prisons bear notorious reputations for alleged substandard conditions and even human rights violations. If daily life for Miguel Castro prison's regular inmates is pure hell, imagine how horrific it must be for those who have been consigned to the "hole" for punishment. Like Joran van der Sloot.
And it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.
Wow. Just wow. Sad Natalie and Stephanie crossed paths with this psycho.
Latin American prisons bear notorious reputations for alleged substandard conditions and even human rights violations.
But the Swiss want to arrest George Bush for waterboarding.
Maybe, stay off the cocaine, Joran. Two girls would probably still be alive, you wouldn't be in a third-world prison having just stabbed the person bringing you the food you need to survive its conditions.
why dont they shoot him while escaping?
I hope Joran has this much hell every day. But I feel sorry for the guard, and wish him health.
When you attack a guard in this part of the world your days are numbered.
They need to just sprinkle his food with strychnine and be done with this rodent.
I’ve never understood the absolute fascination with the death of one pretty teenager years and years ago. Thousands of people get murdered in the US every year and they don’t come to dominate news coverage. I remember one broadcaster leading off with this story on the day Katrina hit. Sad for the family but this isn’t a story at this point and never was one that justified 1/1000th of the coverage it got.
Joran better not not have any plans for the next 50 years or so, he’s going to absolutely hate Peru by then. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.
Are you kidding?? Not being in favor of human administering the death sentence, I find this the closest thing to justice. (yes I admit there's gaping holes in my compassion) Bet he wishes the investigators in Aruba did a better job now. This is up there with OJ getting himself incarcerated. I wish Joran a long and conscious life.
Oh that poor innocent boy...
What are they doin to him ???
Think his prison term will be hell...? Just wait until he actually gets there. He likely knows what’s waiting for him, just like the X-files character Luther Lee Boggs.
Joran is starring in the remake of the 1992 Bill Murray hit Groundhog Day. Karma is tenacious stuff, Joran.
Maybe this Teflon psychopath will finally have rendezvous with destiny.
That’s pretty harsh.
And it isn’t just “one pretty teenager.” He has murdered again and probably there are more victims. It stays in the news because he has not been brought to justice.
Murders without suspects don’t continue to get coverage because there is nothing new to report while a suspect gone unpunished will stay in the news until justice is done.
NO, arsenic is much better, given in tiny doses over a prolonged period, death is slow and agonizingly painful.....
