“Burt Bacharach, who composed most of the music, died at the age of 82.”
Well, his ghost has been writing music for an upcoming Broadway play.

They seem to have replaced Sr John Gielgud with a slightly overweight Hispanic fellow. I think they may have lost something in the translation, so to speak. Look at the trailer again with a particularly jaundiced politically correct eye and you will see Sr John Gielgud was replaced by Helen Mirren, also named Hobson, Arthur's long suffering Nanny.

Why do we need a new Arthur?
The only thing I can think of is that there is some ideological point that needs “fixing”, like Scarlet Letter or Huck Finn.

Peter Allen, one of the co-writers of Arthur’s Theme died of AIDS in 1992 at age 48. He was “married” to Liza Minnelli for a while.

I don’t know. If so, then he probably had more in common with Helen Mirren than we realized :-)

"Why do we need a new Arthur?" Virtually every Hollywood remake that I've seen turned out to be a dud. It just seems that the Hollywood writers have run out of ideas, and keep recycling old favorites and classics. Why?? They want to make a buck. And they can get away with a substandard product because of the current dumbed down generation.

I would like to think that a gal as good looking as Katy Perry could do better than this turdwipe. However, she's an Obamabot as well.

Dudley Moore was good in 10 also. Funny man...

I think the real reason we have had so many remakes of great films in the past is that Hollywood no longer has any talented screenwriters. Same goes for TV. No talent so sex it up, throw in a gay guy and a slutty female and you have a new TV show. Oh yea, and make the white male look stupid....

Dudley Moore came across as a truly good kind hearted person. He was also a pretty good jazz pianist.
Not to mention an excellent comic actor.

Gawd, that looks horrible! And they expect someone to actually PAY to see that?!

Drunkenness is not charming. It is if you have any sense of humor at all.
