...her people, or as they say in today's news, her handlers, every time they'd put [the blame on] me...
Well, ultimately, who do you think is going to be held responsible Billy-boy?

And divorcing his wife because she slept with Brett Michaels of all people. With the skanks he has gone through, I’d be worrying about getting checked for STD’s Billy. Miley will be who she will be at this point.

Cyrus said he should have been stricter, and accuses her handlers of going too far to promote her... You're her FATHER, dumb-a$$. Why did you even LET her have 'handlers'?

Disney strikes again. Between the Disney non-stop publicity machine and Billy Ray’s ineptitude as a father, the kid was doomed from the start.

1) He was on the show. He was literally in the room with her when all of this was going on. Thanks Dad!
2) She had enough money 3 years ago to retire to a horse farm and be tremendously wealthy. But it wasn't enough. They needed more money and they were willing to pay any price.
3) The show is about how life as a celebrity is hard, and no fun. The goal was to hide your identity and be a normal person so as not to fall into the celebrity trap. I guess this important plot element went past him, because he had his daughter drive headfirst into the celebrity porn culture.

Miley is still a minor. As such, her parents are the ones who made or could have made the decisions. “Handlers” don’t have the athority to make decisions on behalf of minors.
So, Billy Ray Joe Bob Jefferson Lee Cyrus, don’t blame the the handlers of a minor.

He is a country star. Didn’t he watch Tanya Tucker, Lee Ann Rimes? Didn’t he see what happened to Lindsey Lohan?
Actually so far he has been lucky.

What few times I’ve seen Billy Ray & Miley in interviews together, I’ve been struck with how condescending, self-important and arrogant her apparent attitude has been toward her daddy. I wondered at the time who had instilled it in her. Sure, she’s a BIG STAR, but Billy Ray was a pretty big star in his own right at one time and he paid for vittles to feed her face when she couldn’t take care of herself.

He could have pulled the plug on “Hannah Montana” at any moment if he saw this going on, but I imagine the paycheck and threats of being sued kept him on the reservation.
Pop culture has a destructive effect if values are not present, especially with a parent who fails in his role as guardian.

Welp, Billy-boy is on record saying he wanted to be a "friend" to his kids. How's that working fer ya, billy?
Parenting means making tough decisions. You can hope to be friendly, but ultimately parenting is a life time commitment. Like it or lump it, they have all kind of friends throughout life. Just one set of parents.
Besides, it would have been a cold day in hell before I would have let my 16yo daughter hook-up with a 20yo man. And I sure as snake-snot wouldn't have been doing the "setting up."

I don’t understand jumping on the guy.
He made mistakes (some pretty big ones by his account).
He realizes now he made mistakes, and has learned a hard lesson.
He is admitting to the world he made mistakes.
I rarely pull out the “throw the first stone” line from the Bible, as it is almost always misused as an excuse to condone the continuation of bad behavior. But that isn’t the case here. He is saying he regrets what he has done, and want to change things.
To paraprahse: Let he who has displayed perfect parenting skills throw the first stone.

I vaguely remember an interview I heard him do when they first started this show about how he was proud of his kids and he and his wife didn't want to burden them with a bunch of rules, he let them have their own experiences and that was their parenting technique. I remember thinking to myself, what a cop out on that responsibility, and boy, one day they would be sorry, but by then it will be too late. I wish I could have been my kids best friends while they were growing up, but I had a job to do; a responsibility to them in their youth-to train them up the way they should go. I am so glad I did, cause now, I am friends with all my kids and my marriage is strong; but BOY did they hate me for years, and I am the proud recipient of the worst mother of the year award for 20 years straight LOL.
