It's been known for decades that wind power would fail.

Those of us here in the Bay Area can remember the huge windmill that PG&E erected in Cordelia on a hilltop. It convinced them that they didn't want to venture into that boondoggle.

Small turbines are practical for individuals in remote areas that don't get enough sun for solar to be reliable on its own, but on a large scale wind power is guaranteed to be unfeasible.
