In the office I just give my IP and clients can access my server directly. No wasted time uploading.
Because I don't buy "service policies". I kind of figured that was obvious.
Not cherry picking anything. My machines were fixed under warranty and the battery was replaced after the warranty had expired two years earlier.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the service I didn't have to pay extra for.
Thanks! I’ll be installing windows; I just wish that Office worked the same on both systems.
I just D&D a folder onto my FTP client and let it do its thing in the background. And my code editor gives me a real-time running webpage "preview" -- without even using a browser (or I can select a browser for it to use...).
No argument; since I have a webserver running full time online, I just never considered running a webserver on my laptop...
Quite well, actually. They have far better specs than my iMac, in which I run a Windows network in virtuals, which is very taxing on a system. And it all comes in a laptop less than an inch thick. The only thing the MacBook Pro is missing relative to a few other high-end notebooks is a pro-level graphics card specifically for CAD applications. If that's what you need, then buy one of those.
It usually involves comparing $399 PC laptops with $1,600 Mac laptops, and claiming the Mac is overpriced.
The best use of a web server on a laptop is being able to develop offline. Just a little free Apache server will work wonders somewhere you can’t connect.
I just had a keyboard replaced on my Toshiba laptop. It took a little over month for it to be fixed by them.
Sometimes I drop my daughter off at college for a two hour class. It's a half hour drive. I stop at a Starbucks and get coffee and work on my computer instead of sitting in the truck staring at the parking lot for two hours or driving home and having enough time to slap the front door before driving back to pick her up. Make sense?
Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind in case the need arises... :-)
HP does not care how to treat its customers. I hope they go up in smoke!
OK. Between business travellers and people such as your self we cover maybe 10% of the cafe denizens. What's eth story with the rest of the nirkenstock wearers who hang around there? It just makes no sense to me.

I didn't say it was "overpriced". I was comparing service response and experience.
I was just telling you that's a common source of ire. As far as customer service goes, other companies can deliver acceptable results, but Apple consistently tops the charts, usually by quite a wide margin.
My HP/Compaq laptop runs Windows7 just fine.... I never blow money on Apple products. Other want to do it for the bragging rights or perceived reliability? Knock yourselves out.
Too bad the kids have so much peer pressure exerted to buy Apple products
It turns out that the laptop is a power machine, but the case wasn't designed for the kind of heat it puts out when running at max speed.
Through much internet searching, I eventually found out that I needed to undervolt the CPU to keep it from overheating. Now it runs fine, but I went through a lot of aggravation to get to this point.

Macs are overpriced because most buyers use a laptop for e-mail, internet and office applications. You don't need a fancy schmantzy $1300 MacBook to do that. There are plenty of 15.4" laptops in the $300-$500 range that will do it just fine
For such people it is legitimate to compare MacBook to the Dell or HP. These people don't need to buy $900 worth of overkill. But many do so due to the Apple caché and peer pressure. If you are an artiste living in NYC you will be razzed interminably by your peers if you buy a plebian HP
How did you undervolt your laptop CPU. I know many desktop mother boards allow it to be done in the bios. I can’t see a laptop bios providing for this
