“A bittersweet tale of the increasing estrangement of a retired automobile tycoon and his wife. Increasingly obsessed with maintaining an appearance of youth, she falls in with a crowd of frivolous socialites during their “second honeymoon” European vacation. He, in turn, meets a woman who is everything she is not; self-assured, self-confident, and able to take care of herself. “

I love the relationships and class issues in this movie.

We all remember Walter Huston as the old man in Sierra Nevada, in this one he is a big strapping fellow, with a kind heart and bored wife. I thought one of the interesting scenes is his wife and he getting ready for bed, it shows them undressing getting into bed all cut at the precise time it was about to reveal something, very interesting how Hollywood would work around that sort of thing in the old day.

It was the government code. They couldn't show those images.

Love this shot. They don't film movies in these styles anymore.

Sorry, but every time I think of Walter Huston, I think of ‘Mission to Moscow’, the most notorious propaganda film of all time.

Looks great! I’ll be watching that instead of O’Reilly.

Thanks...

I did, it was 2 hours of enjoyment. Mercedes McCambridge deserved her Oscar.
