“Yes you have. Seriously you forgot the sarc tag”

I’ve never heard of any of them except Jeff Bridges... Oscars are gay...

complain about spelling and grammar use

"Usage".

My work here is done. :)

Still, what a great idea for a thread. I'll have to watch this one.

We just turned off the TV because they wouldn’t stop with all this oscars crap on F’n’F this morning. I remarked to my wife that I’ve hated everything to do with hollywood, actors, and all the surrounding garbage since I was a little boy (about 5 decades ago!). I think it just shows more evidence of our societal rot when a big part of the nation is cackling and fawning over what some of these freaks are going to be wearing.

This coterie of babbling, self-important know-nothings and their childish, self indulgent, pathetic perversions isn’t important enough for me to give it any more attention than I have already in this post.

News Corp owns 20th Century Fox. That's why FNC's hyping the Oscars. And Black Swan is Fox Searchlight, IIRC. 127 Hours, too...

Dammit. There's always a catch.

Okay. I'm in.

Anybody who watches The Oscars is an idiot!

Oh....is it Oscar time again?

I never know until I see something on FR or on the Yahoo! front page. I don't even know what movies are up for it.

May we discuss socks on this thread?

At least they are having Ann Hathaway and James Franco be in charge this year.

Who? Never heard of ‘em.

I must rise up and disagree with you on two critical issues you espoused.

It is unfair to taint popcorn with the academy awards. Popcorn can be served and sporting events, home gatherings and even church socials. Popcorn predates Hollywood. There is some room for disparaging popcorn on the basis of whether microwave popcorn is as good as cooking it on the stove. I will eat both kinds but I do have some reservations about the hot air type machines that are used to make popcorn.

2nd issue note tagline.

Oscar swag bag worth $75,000

Those flaming lefties are greedy guts. What do socialists want with swag bags?

I don't even know what movies are up for it.

Neither does anyone else. But the bad taste and utter hypocrisy on display every year are always good conversation fodder :)

I don’t know much about any recent movies, the last one we saw in a theater was “Gran Torino” which we enjoyed, and it was the first one in a number of years. We thought about going to see “True Grit” but never made it out, will have to catch on DVD or cable.

Hollywood is filled with America hating liberals who are too perverse to make great films anymore. Any glamor around the Academy Awards, Oscars, left decades ago. It’s now a sewer living on leftover vapors from the Golden Age.

I'm the number-one movie fan in the world. My DVD gets a workout like you wouldn't believe.

Back in the day, I was lucky enough to be able to watch my tiny-screen, black-and-white TV when exciting and glamorous stars emerged like blazing flares out of the wings and up to the Oscar podium.

One after another, Bette David, Errol Flynn, Tyrone Power, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Humphrey Bogart, Hedy Lamar, Red Skelton, Bob Hope, Jennifer Jones, Charleton Heston, John Garfield, Ingrid Bergman, John Wayne........I was lost in three ecstatic hours spent in a heavenly galaxy of thespian blazing stars, comets and meteors as these fabulous creatures presented or accepted the awards.

I haven't watched the Oscars for a decade now. Three hours of utter boredom. I haven't been to a movie theater in a couple decades, either. I couldn't even name five top-notch, charismatic male and female stars if my life depended on it.

On my DVD I can satisfy my lust for films from the Golden Age of Movies, foreign and artsy gems and a few notable movies made in the past couple years....and, to boot, my pop corn doesn't cost me 6 bucks a bowl.

Leni

Could Charlie Sheen Crash Oscars With Porn Star Pals?

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2011/02/26/charlie-crash-oscars/?test=faces

Charlie Sheen may have never won an Oscar, but what are the odds that he and his two sexy young “goddess” friends will attend Hollywood’s most prestigious award show Sunday night?

“He is the last person the Academy would want there right now,” veteran Beverly Hills publicist Ed Lozzi tells FOX411. “Not just because of the scandal, but because it would be seen as a blatant publicity stunt, which the Academy doesn’t need. They have more to get over on that night than Charlie Sheen.”
