And that was when $20 was real money. I deal with collector cars a lot and whenever I am in that vintage, I always reach under the drivers seat and like clockwork, the connector is undone. I am with you that it was designed like that for a reason.
There is a movie from the day with Paul Newman called The Drowning Pool and one of the running gags is that he rents a new LTD with the Interlock. Every time he gets in to start it he tries to defeat the buzzer to start the car in one way or another. It's funny.
I cannot stand drunk driving. I have had several friends over the years killed by a drunk driver. However, the main word is “mandatory”. I am all for using this type of device for someone convicted of DWI; however, not everyone consumes alcohol and drives. I am amazed at how many people will have six, seven, and more convictions of DWI. They are the problems.
“.. a lot of DUI’s are for pills, weed, cough medicine etc...”
Absolutely. Some are even for falling asleep at the wheel based on exhaustion. I have no issue for someone convicted of DWI’s but I hate when something is considered mandatory... whether you ever even had a drink or not.
Apparently last year’s incarnation died in committee. Let’s hope this one does the same.
“Feb 25, 2010: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.” Last Action Taken.
This idea of Corkheads does not suprise me. He had his fingers in the auto bailouts and gets involved routinely with other statist ideas like Financial Reform. He just can’t help himself. Here is an article relating to the mindset of a New Tone guy.

I never supported this being mandatory, but go ahead and lie about what I was saying.
I never supported this being mandatory, but having this offered as an available option will both save lives and on prison costs by not having to pay $15,000 a year per additional inmate.
You say you don’t this think this should be a mandatory feature.
Hint: read the article. The law would make this madatory.
An optional feature? Sure. But that’s not what this is. Your rant lacks any kind of relevance.
Government telling us every move to make is not a right either. Wake up.
And when you think you’re awake, go read Mark Levin’s “Liberty and Tyranny.”
If life was that easy, we would all be happy. Right?
