That article was the 1986 Reagan raid...
I was expecting this to be France not participating because they don’t want to upset Gadhaffi in case he wins,, and possibly interrupting their oil allocation.

The afteraction reports strongly suggest that the one American aircrew of a F-111 that was lost, due to a Libyan SAM, which they failed to detect/avoid, may have died because of fatigue/stress due to the multiple midair refuelings and thousand mile + extended trip, because they could NOT overfly France.
IOW..the Froggies are responsible for their loss...
