The joke that's going around is that the Mayans got it wrong: The world is ending this year, not 2012.
Here's the lates sign of that.
A superbug is spreading around America, and has hit Southern California.
LA Times:
A dangerous drug-resistant bacterium has spread to patients in Southern California, according to a study by Los Angeles County public health officials.
More than 350 cases of the Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, or CRKP, have been reported at healthcare facilities in Los Angeles County, mostly among elderly patients at skilled-nursing and long-term care facilities, according to a study by Dr. Dawn Terashita, an epidemiologist with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
It was not clear from the study how many of the infections proved fatal, but other studies in the U.S. and Israel have shown that about 40% of patients with the infection die. Tereshita was not available for comment Thursday morning but was scheduled to speak about the study in the afternoon.

My husband and I have had the same experience.
..but whatever 'it' is.....that's going around....it made me very ill and I needed 2 rounds of antibiotics, plus a 10 day regimen of low dosage steroids to get rid of it.....
..the coughing was terrible...

Nope, I waited ten days before starting the antibiotics and virus was already out of my system. I am prone to severe sinus infections, which are bacterial and can be triggered by anything that includes nasal congestion. But I appreciate the totally non-confrontational concern you’ve displayed as someone who has never met me and knows absolutely jack-**** about my medical history.
I was and had been taking Vitamin D3 when I came down with this superbug.
Same here. I started Vitamin D last week. Nary a sniffle yet.
We have been taking Vitamin D3 religiously for well over a year as well. Went all winter without getting sick. I’m always saying, “did you take your D3 today?” But it didn’t stop this...we all got sick, my daughter very sick, and it lingers. I still definitely believe in the Vitamin D3, but it’s disconcerting when something like this comes along.
..I've been taking 2000iu daily for months.
But if this is a 'superbug'...then I guess we were without the defenses needed to thwart it :(
You will not get the flu if you get tested for vitamin d, and thereafter get your D3 levels up to over 60. It takes a different amount of supplementation for each of us to get our levels of d3 up to a therapeutic level. You need to keep getting tested until you find what you need to take. But you will not get sick even after exposed. Period.
Though strickly anecdotal, I am at 16 months and counting.

I had the flu once this year. It happened about three days after I ran out of D3. When my order finally arrived I was too sick to keep the capsules down. I haven’t allowed myself to run out again. I think this is also a great time to increase my family’s probiotic intake.
My son is now 2 1/2. We’ve been giving him probiotics since he was an infant. You can’t get enough of them, so they are not at all harmful. We poured the capsules into his bottle, and I took extra as well (I expressed milk and bottle fed). It does make a difference with the immune system.
Try a netti pot. I haven’t had sinus problems since I started using one. When I feel something coming on I add a cap of hydrogen peroxide to the warm water. It stings so bad my eyes water, but I haven’t taken an OTC or prescription sinus med in almost three years.

I'm sure you are. Tell you what, disregard the antibiotics, get yerself some good cough syrup and check back in about three or four weeks and tell us how good you're feeling........Then send me about $50 bucks for saving you any other worthless doctors's visits and prescription charges.........
IT'S A VIRUS and despite how strong the strain is, it will not respond to any known antibiotic......
Your body will eventully overcome it if you would just let it do its job............

I’ll tell you what. When you can do a blood work-up for infection I’v been diagnosed with, via your mighty keyboard, I may listen to you.
In the meantime I’ll continue to be seen by the Doctor here who is the local contact for the CDC. (Which is why I was refered to him)
If you need fifty bucks, hustle snake oil (somewhere else)
