If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
Sorry, Kevin, I had not seen your request to be added before I posted this. But you,ve been added to the ping list. Welcome!
As usual, no update for me until there’s a jailbreak.
Here’s hoping it helps some with the battery drain I’ve had lately. Turning Ping off helped some, but still seems like a bit more drain then I’m use to.
Thanks for the ping.
I noticed that too. I am assuming you already know about how to shut down an Icon after you launched it. So that’s its not running in the background?
How?
How?
Yep;-)
Those suspended applications are in memory but are not actually running, so they should not affect battery life. There are lot's of other things you can do to extend the battery:
1. Turn off WiFi when you're not at home.
2. Turn down the brightness.
3. Turn off Fetch New Data (use Manually).
4. Turn off Spotlight Search.
5. Turn off Battery Percentage.
All of these will help to extend the battery charge.
I had. Major problem with this on my Touch. Solved it by turning off push for email and reducing check for email to 6 hours. (I believe this was the setting). It seems to have made a huge difference. I was draining the battery each day, even of hardly using. Now it is staying almost full between daily syncing.
Double-tap home to bring up the last 4 used apps. Press and hold until they turn wiggly, then tap the “-” next to the app you want to exit (it force-quits the app and removes it from the recent apps list).
Doesn’t look like I’ll be in a rush to install this on my 3GS — nothing on the update list seems to affect me.
1) Hit the home button twice rapidly.
2) The screen will raise at the bottom. Put your finger on any of the Icons below that were revealed when the bottom of the screen opened up. Then hold it there for a few seconds until the red minus sign pops up on top of all the Icons.
3) Tap the red minus sign, and it will close your Icon. Do this to all your Icons at the bottom of the screen with the red minus sign. Since this will be your first time you may have a lot.
4) When you are done hit the home button again and it will close the bottom of the screen. You will back on the main display of your phone screen.
Things to think about.
A) Do this after you go into an App or two. No need to have it running in the background if you are not using it. This will save your battery life.
B) Don’t worry just because you shut down an Icon it does not mean you will not receive messages, etc.... For instance, say you close down your IM. You will still receive text messages when pushed to you. The point of this is just not leave Icons open that you are not using.
C) I typically surf the web (on my iPhone) while I listen to music in the background via my iTunes. When I’m done I shut them both down.
I hope this helps you out.
Dave
P.S. BTW, iTunes 4.3.1 was released last night. You may want to hook up your iPhone to your computer and update it.Jana Owen
