Super easy bread recipe and how to make slow cooker yogurt- Vanity

Posted on 03/26/2011 8:11:31 AM PDT by goodwithagun

Here is a link to a bread recipe I just successfully tried: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/Artisan-Bread-In-Five-Minutes-A-Day.aspx The recipe is just mix and let sit for 2-3 hours, then rerigerate until needed. The dough makes multiple loaves and lasts 2-3 weeks in the fridge. It also freezes well.

Here is a link to homemade, slow cooker yogurt I have been successfully using for a while: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/10/you-can-make-yogurt-in-your-crockpot.html It is so easy and so yummy!

Oh Nan, you were pulling my leg..... and to think, I left my baby in the tub alone and his sister, who is only 5 years older than him was playing with a used syringe while I took the time to explain that all to you. I’ve been hoodwinked!

Oh my gracious goodness girl, DON’T EVER LEAVE BABIES ALONE IN THE TUB;NOT FOR ANYTHING OR ANYONE! I hope you are pulling my leg this time. My DIL was bathing her brand new baby (2 wks) last night and somehow the baby flipped over to her stomach and swallowed some water. DIL thought she had drowned her baby and rushed to the hospital with her. She’s okay, thank God. Geez, you got me all nervous. I’m going to bed.

Of course I was pulling your leg....my son “was” alone in the tub/shower, but he’s 19 and his sister “is” 5 years old, and was playing with a used syringe, but she’s an ICU nurse..... ;^)

I just made my first loaf of this bread - I baked at 425 so it took a little longer. The bread is excellent and I think will make a wonderful pizza crust - very crispy! My loaf isn’t beautiful, but the family isn’t complaining about the way it looks. ;^)

I love homemade jerky and have an Excalibur dehydrator. So far, the only things we make are dried fruit for snacks and beef jerky.

If you ever do decide to make homemade jerky, here’s a tip: Partially freeze the meat. It’s a whole lot easier to cut into thin strips that way.
