Officials Hunt Deadly Egyptian Cobra on Loose at Bronx Zoo

It's deadly, and it's out there, waiting.

That might sound like the trailer for a campy monster flick, but it's a real concern at New York's Bronx Zoo, where officials and staff are scrambling to find a deadly Egyptian cobra that slithered away from its home last Friday and hasn't been seen since.

The zoo's Reptile House remained closed Monday as a precaution while workers searched for the runaway reptile, a zoo spokeswoman confirmed to FoxNews.com.

While the roughly 20-inch-long Egyptian cobra -- armed with a massive dose of lethal venom that it injects into its victims -- has been unaccounted for since Friday afternoon, zoo officials say they're confident it hasn't gone far and isn't in a public area. Its enclosure was in an isolation area not open to visitors.

"To understand the situation, you have to understand snakes," zoo Director Jim Breheny said in an email Sunday.

Perhaps by escaping the cobra was just trying to get back to the “Hood!”

All thiings being equal, I think I’d rather face the cobra.

After all, the Honey Badger IS a bada$$ animal that just don’t give a sh!t.

has been unaccounted for since Friday afternoon

According to a press agent the snake is just hiking the Adirondacks, however there are Internet rumors it was spotted wearing a hat and dark glasses while changing flights in Atlanta.

Don’t look too hard in the White House where it may have been carried.

Just leave it alone.

Was it the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga? They have a great collection of eastern North American snakes, both poisonous and no-poisonous.

Drench your keyboard with soap. You’re being horribly disrespectful to snakes by equating them with the Illegal. I, for one, will never call Moochelle a “b***h” out of great respect for the mothers of my two wonderful dogs.

Over 50,000 die in alcohol-related traffic events, and we’re excited about finding a cobra that hasn’t struck anyone yet.

Cobras don't drive, so we should be okay.

We hunted for a Yellow Rat snake for 2 weeks, didn't find it until I needed to use my typewriter. She was due to eat so she would have come out soon, but she seemed very happy in the typewriter for the time being.

If your snake ever hides out in your typewriter and doesn't want to come out just aim your wife's hairdryer at the snake's tail, the snake will come out. This will also work for snakes in sofa springs.

This solution to one of life's little problems has been tested and proven!
