Officials Hunt Deadly Egyptian Cobra on Loose at Bronx Zoo

It's deadly, and it's out there, waiting.

That might sound like the trailer for a campy monster flick, but it's a real concern at New York's Bronx Zoo, where officials and staff are scrambling to find a deadly Egyptian cobra that slithered away from its home last Friday and hasn't been seen since.

The zoo's Reptile House remained closed Monday as a precaution while workers searched for the runaway reptile, a zoo spokeswoman confirmed to FoxNews.com.

While the roughly 20-inch-long Egyptian cobra -- armed with a massive dose of lethal venom that it injects into its victims -- has been unaccounted for since Friday afternoon, zoo officials say they're confident it hasn't gone far and isn't in a public area. Its enclosure was in an isolation area not open to visitors.

"To understand the situation, you have to understand snakes," zoo Director Jim Breheny said in an email Sunday.

I’d look at the snack bar. I hear cobras like burritos. Probably wash it down with a coke.

Remember that scene in “Death on the Nile?” Hercule Poirot (Peter Ustinov) is freshening up in the tiny bathroom in his cabin, and he notices a cobra inches from his leg. He taps out an SOS on the wall, and within seconds, David Niven arrives. After assessing the situation, Niven whips out his sword and impales the snake before it can strike. Hilarious movie.

Hey wussy, more people have died from snake bites than from nuclear plants.

Should we stop all civilization until we eradicate all serpents?

Grow a pair.

P.S. Coal, Oil rig fires and electrical plant accidents kill more folks than cobras...

Do you feel silly there in your environmental utopia? You should.

Jack ass.

Have they checked the weather? Unless it’s indoors, or near a heat source, it’s dead.

Notice that Drudge has a lede that says the snake “...remains on the crawl...”

I suspect they mean ‘slither’

It’s been so long since I’ve seen that movie I don’t recall that. I’ll have to watch for it on TMC.

That sounds like that Adam Gadahn guy. I think he needed to raise some money to pay his annual al-qaeda dues, so he consented to do that barney fag imitation in the honey badger voice-over.

All his queer al-qaeda co-members gladly bought a copy of the video to add to their porn collections, because, to them, it was just “tho thexy”!
