Firefox 4? Likes? Dislikes?
Posted on 04/03/2011 4:36:57 AM PDT by djf
OK, so I gave in and downloaded it to a test machine (not this one for testing).
Seems to be MUCH faster. Not sure I like the layout. Kinda wish they had allowed us to fit the version 4 code into the version 3.x gui...
Comments? Tricks? Anybody find any nuggets here?

Maybe he meant Ford Exploder. I drive a couple of ‘em.
;-)
I have been using Firefox Betas and whatnot, and I have it set to automatically update to the latest. I’ve always liked FF, and it’s better than ever. My only complaint is the day or two for the add-ons to catch up to the latest version.

Downside...
It allowed me to download and install it and only after I’d trashed the old version and tried to run it did it inform me that it wouldn’t work on my operating system.

You should just be able to go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs and uninstall it... not sure, I haven’t checked that yet...

What OS? I’m running it on W7, and PClinuxOS. Both are fine.

Roboform has told me that in order for it to work with Firefox 4, a new upgrade must be purchased.

"You can make it look more like 3.x by moving the tabs to the bottom of the header. Took me a bit to figure out how, but you can almost make it look like 3.x." How do you do this? Trying to find the tabs in the clutter of the header really annoys me. When they are on the bottom of the header, they are much easier to keep track of.

That is a pain, and gonna take some getting used to.
You know what kind of upgrade I’d really like? Left mouse button click means page refresh...
Hey, I can dream...

Do not like the way they have moved the “refresh” button as well as the “home page” button all the way over to the right. They were very conveniently placed to the right “forward”/”back” buttons under FF3.
The way they are placed now , you have to search for them. Why would they have moved such heavily used buttons from such a convenient place?

Now I would like to have them open and be able to stick them to the left side of my screen like I can in IE
Hitting the CTRL and B keys simultaneously opens the bookmarks on the left side of the screen.
I haven't used IE in years, so I'm not sure this is what you're looking for.

Right click on the refresh button. Click on “customize”. Drag the refresh button into the box. Then drag it to where you’d like it.

You can move those buttons. Right click one of the buttons, click customize, and then drag the button to where you want it.
To: TomMix; djf
Right click on the blank area next to the tabs and uncheck “Tabs on Top” The tabs are then below the header.

You CAN move things where you want. I like that it gives a little more space for content by condensing the tool bars. It’s a bit quicker than FF3, too.
