OK, so I gave in and downloaded it to a test machine (not this one for testing).
Seems to be MUCH faster. Not sure I like the layout. Kinda wish they had allowed us to fit the version 4 code into the version 3.x gui...
Comments? Tricks? Anybody find any nuggets here?
Is it just me or my settings? FR seems to be much brighter and crisper using FireFox.
Didn't do that to me. What OS are you running?
Well, FR’s clock setting is finally right. Firefox fixed that!
;-)
>>The “back button” does not highlight or function on FR.
I’ve noticed that too. It’s not just FR. Seems like you have to let the page fully load before clicking article links.
Even then, occasionally the back button will grey out.
I would like to ask you PC gurus which desktop computer you would recommend? I’m considering replacing my HP multimedia desktop that is 4-5 years old and is running XP. I want to switch to Windows 7 and I don’t think it’s worth buying Windows 7 and paying someone to install it on this 5-year old PC. I’m not PC savvy so I will have to pay a tech to take the data off this machine, install Windows 7, and re-install my data. It seems easier to buy a new tower.
The back button works fine for me on FR. Perhaps it has something to do with the way you have your system set up. I also love having the tabs on top of the header, where there was wasted space. It gives me more screen space to view. Faster? Yes! I’m likin’ this.
You’re asking the wrong guy.
My main desktop (which I use daily, but is not my main machine, my main machine is a Gateway laptop) is a ten year old Asus Server with dual Pentium 3’s.
The newest (Microsoft) OS I’m using is XP.
Guess I don’t always go for the bells and whistles. Kinda like when you see a real pretty gal except she has this metal thingy stuck through her nose...

It’s almost funny how it displays the bar announcing how it has blocked a popup, but you have to close the popup to see it.
Firefox 4 won’t run on X Tiger 10.4, Mozilla abandoned that platform. I wonder how much Apple paid them for that?
I am looking into Keepass. This is a free/open password manager, however it seems to lack the other form filling features of Roboform.
So much for Roboform's promised "lifetime upgrades" policy (no longer mentioned).
Similar here. I have been looking at laptops and desktops. But, I just do home-use, so I don’t know how much power I need/want. And I fear moving to Win7 will cause a loss of several DOS/early Windows programs I MUST HAVE and which do not have comparable replacements.
I’ve seen some 17” Win7 Pro I-7 laptops for $800+.
I’ve priced a built-to-order destop with similar for about $1000.
Most times, my XP desktop and laptop are okay. However, they do get slow with many of the newer websites.
Check out VMware.
One of my machines has VMware on it and various Windows versions going all the way back to Win 3.1!!!
I have read (but not verified) that using XP video drivers on Win 7 will allow you to run DOS apps full-screen. You'll lose the Aero glass effects, though.
Just paid $9.95 to upgrade Roboform from version 6 to 7. Version 7 works fine.
I have the same issue, but I just click the browse link to go back to the forum index after reading the first article. After that its OK.
I downloaded Adblock Plus. How do I use it? I don’t see anything on the tool bars that says it is running or even there.
I tried the "customize" before, but didn't quite understand the way it worked with "position sensitive appearance" for want of the correct term.
Worked with the "New Tab" button as well.
Now I can go back to working a bit more efficiently.
