(October 15, 2009) — It was a moment little noticed and soon forgotten; the import of it was not at that time understood; but the evidence that it did in fact occur is compelling. It occurred during the Obama vs. Alan Keyes debate shoot, when the actual video tape was being recorded by ABC’s Chicago Affiliate in the Fall of 2004. It was never aired in Chicago, because the affiliate only aired the final cut; the raw footage was, as far as The Post & Email knows, aired only twice by C-Span in April and May of 2005.
The content of the short exchange has become legendary. In a quick jab Keyes asserted definitively that Obama was not a natural born citizen, and Obama, manifestly caught off guard, conceded the fact.

Yep. And unfortunately, many Freepers will buy into oft-stated internet rumors without doing the slightest bit of fact checking.

What about the campaign calling the network to cover bama?
Where is the proof it actually did or that on air statement took place? I can find people on the internet who will swear obama said hewas born on planet Xenu. The person with the most vested interest in it being true (Keyes ) and his staff say it never happened. Also the source you cited, Post and Email is about as reliable as jumping in pools. They post every rumor they can get their hands on without any checking.
This makes no sense. Why would Keyes even bring up Obama’s natural-born citizenship at a Senate debate? Alan Keyes is a brilliant man and an astute Constitutional scholar. Surely he knew the qualifications for being a Senator.
Guys, this video exists. At least it did, because I saw it myself. It was waaaayyy back when Obama’s eligibility wasn’t yet the thing.
He did say, “So what, I’m running for Illinois Senator, not the Presidency.”
Considering the lawsuits, I would expect that Mr. Keyes has this video, if he ever got a copy of it. Whoever made the video may have destroyed it by now or whatever.
But he did say it. I saw the video and heard his words.
Because Keyes, far more prescient even than the diabolic Karl Rove, saw deep into the future and knew that BarryBoy would be running for pres__ent some day and so, at great cost to his own senate campaign, inserted this into the debate to create a smoking gun for the future NBC controversy he knew would some day take place.
Why, I’d be willing to bet that Alan Keyes not only was prescient but is omniscient and omnipresent and ubiquitous and almighty and well, just divine.

Perhaps the tape will reappear just before our dear leader is tried for treason.

I was listening to Plains radio the night Alan Keyes was asked about it and he said he had no memory of it.

The Senate debates in 2004 are on c-span. It would be great if you could look at them and let us know which debate it was. They are each different and perhaps you will remember the debate and the background.
At leats that way we will know the exact date. ALso a link to the transcripts were on freepers too. But I couldn’t find that part of the debate.
Stick to the facts, people.
For the record, I was never Alan's campaign manager.
But I was present in Illinois during the time in question. Believe me, somebody with a vivid imagination made this up.
Keyes himself has also shot this down a number times as well.
But it just won't seem to die...
You can look all you want. But it just isn’t there, because it never happened.
Geez, it has been so long and the clip I saw was short, just a few minutes of the debate. The point of the clip was to show that Obama made his “So what...” comment. I was shocked, yet not surprised.
I suppose I could look and try to recall, although I do remember a white background with a window behind Mr. Keyes, and Mr. Keys was on the left.
