(October 15, 2009) — It was a moment little noticed and soon forgotten; the import of it was not at that time understood; but the evidence that it did in fact occur is compelling. It occurred during the Obama vs. Alan Keyes debate shoot, when the actual video tape was being recorded by ABC’s Chicago Affiliate in the Fall of 2004. It was never aired in Chicago, because the affiliate only aired the final cut; the raw footage was, as far as The Post & Email knows, aired only twice by C-Span in April and May of 2005.
The content of the short exchange has become legendary. In a quick jab Keyes asserted definitively that Obama was not a natural born citizen, and Obama, manifestly caught off guard, conceded the fact.

Why are you so insistent about it not happening? Because you haven’t seen it?
Well, at least they’re self-deluded. Let’s leave it at that.
Because I was there. Because Alan Keyes was there. Because his staff was there. Because his archivist dealt with every second of material associated with all of it. And without exception we all say it didn’t happen.
But, if you want to believe folks on the internet who can’t produce a scintilla of evidence to back up their claims, there’s nothing I can do about that.
"Dude." Produce the video then. Because every eyewitness, including Dr. Keyes himself, says it never happened.
Utterly meaningless without the video.
Not to mention that Dr. Keyes has lawsuits against Zero on the eligibility issue so he has a vested interest in exposing it IF it existed. I take his word as the final on the matter. He was a first person party in the debate and he has the most interest in it.
Maybe IF they think they are telling the truth, they got it from something like “Obama Snippets”

I can’t tell you how many times videos made by this site or others have made it here that people thought were real.
I just saw the ‘birther’s delight’ video posted here just about a week ago with everyone cheering it was a revelation.

Maybe. Or maybe their memories are just playing tricks on them. Like people who swear they saw an Oprah episode where Tommy Hilfiger said he didn't want blacks wearing his clothes.
That never happened either (Hilfiger had never even appeared on Oprah's show), but you can find people who will swear up and down that they were witnessed him say it to Oprah.
I myself have encountered people who swore they were watching TV and saw Obama say he wanted to change the National Anthem to "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." That never happened either; in fact, it was part of a newspaper satire column written by a Freeper.
They all may be sincere in their belief that they saw it. But their memories (especially, as in the case of the Keyes debate, their mutually inconsistent memories) don't trump the historical fact that it didn't happen the way they remember.
