AUGUSTA, Ga. – Charl Schwartzel has won the Masters by two strokes over Adam Scott and Jason Day after a wild final day at Augusta National.

The 26-year-old South African closed with four straight birdies, making a 20-footer at the final hole to wrap up a 6-under 66. He finished 14-under 274, enough to deny Australia its first green jacket.

I’ll honor you that ‘League of Charles’ but I’ll also root for an American win in the next Masters, or anytime during this season. It’s sad Tiger has to sustain the American field. Nothing against him, but that says little for the balance of our players. LET’S GET GOING PEOPLE! PLAY GOLF!!!

Masters weekend might actually be my favorite weekend of the year.

It's been mine for as long as I can remember. Amen Corner, the tough greens, the history of the tournament, it's fantastic. I WANT A GREEN JACKET!

Breaking news: Tiger Woods fails to win Masters.

He did a hell of a lot better than you did...

Tiger Woods is the Barry Bonds of golf.

Tiger Woods' presence today showed he's still a factor in any player's mind. He didn't win but he placed 3rd. That's one heck of an accomplishment after what he's been through. And, he was the only American in contention. I'll root for him any time over these invaders...

I couldn’t be more pleased that “Tiger” FAILED.

Don't like Americans, I guess...

After “what he’s been through”? As if he was a victim?

His performance on the golf course is legendary. Too bad he’s lowered people’s opinion of him with his own destructive behavior.

It was a great golf day, and that course is so beautiful.

Tiger Woods is the Barry Bonds of golf. No evidence, heresay only from his distractors, you're equally full of shit..........

Hey Tiger worshipper, even 25% of his peers believe it, which means the number is actually higher. Keep kneeling before a false god.

Do you think Tiger used HGH or other performance-enhancing drugs? Yes: 24% No: 76%

Not ones who are on the juice.....swing change, or another cycle? What a joke.

Not ones who are on the juice

And not ones who curse after nearly every bad shot, either. Remember last year at Tiger's first post-personal-debacle press conference when he addressed his lousy on-course behavior and maintained he'd change it? Seems he's become even worse since then. It's obvious he has very little self control, either on or off the golf course.

“Tiger Woods is the Barry Bonds of golf.”

Good Line - except Barry Bonds is more gracious.

Tiger is surly. Never credits the opposition. Gives one word interviews and skulks off. And is way too full of himself.

May be hoping too much that he never wins another major.

Congrats to Charl Schwarzel - a great player with a gentleman’s grace. Funny thing is I had this weird feeling and told my son he would win. At start of the tournament his odds were 100 to 1. Got to go with those feelings.

“after what he’s been through” ????????????????????

awwww the poor guy. guess he never saw it coming.

like he didn’t have anything to do with it

Maybe you’ll get lucky and Eliot Spitzer wins the Masters next year.

Why do people root for reprehensible people?

I wrote why I rooted for him. He was the only American in contention. Pay attention.

I don’t root for reprehensible people - American or not.

How about Jim Furyk ? Phil Michelson ? Donald Duck ?

I’m not really jumping all over you bcsco, I used to like the Tiger, but I stopped liking him even before his public troubles. His interviews showed that he had a big chip on his shoulder. And I’ve never ever heard him compliment another player. It was always about him. That bugged me.

I’d rather have a good man win than a bad American.
