I traveled with my wife and son down to Fulton MO. She had a painting in the MO Watercolor Society show at the Winston Churchill Museum in Fulton Mo.

TOPICS: History; Military/Veterans
KEYWORDS: churchill
While the missus hob nobbed, my son and I slipped over the displays. This campus is the location of the speech where the phrase "Iron Curtain" was first used.

Well worth the trip!!!!

Thanks skip2myloo I should have elaborated:

The name of the campus - Westminster College; or that it is in a Sir Christopher Wren Chapel relocated stone by stone from London and reconstructed; or, that it is also the official U.S. memorial to Sir Winston Churchill; or that the Iron Curtain speech by Churchill was on March 5, 1946 when he spoke there at the invitation of President Truman. The actual speech took place in a now demolished gymnasium

I was hoping to get a conversation started about it!

And Churchill may have been a great leader, but he wasn't what you would call hawt.

Especially by 1946.

Hedy Lamarr was, though. :-)
