It is funny to see Hollywood realize that they are just the useful idiots of the powers that be.

He’s right. The attention being paid to these people is embarrassing.

Its funny to hear a Hollywood entertainer ridicule anyone else for considering themselves more important than anyone else.

Why can't some people be left to enjoy this event? I admit, there's certainly an element of fantasy to it, but what's Hollywood and why would they have any grounds for complaint? Competition?...
It's a couple getting married, albeit a "royal" couple. I think if it brings some joy in the lives of people, then great!

Great post, skeeter. Seinfeld’s comments were the usual Hollywood boobishness and insularity.
There is always excitement in Great Britain over a royal wedding. Mostly because the royals do it up sooooooo beautifully. As someone who witnessed the opening of Parliament one year, I can attest to their genuis for pageantry. I’m now getting postcards from my English friends celebrating the event. Also, every street in England generally throws a “block party” on these occasions. I’ll probably watch to see her wedding dress. Absolutely nothing wrong with that!
Sadly, Kate Middleton is no Diana in terms of either beauty or charisma. Hope her marriage works out better, though.

Who can forget our own royal family? Those beautifully-orchestrated weddings where Uncle Teddie probably threw up on the bride and Papa Joe probably raped the maid of honor! How I long for those old days before we abolished the Kennedys!
To: Judges Gone Wild
Well, the romance and spectacle of the thing has its appeal for many people, even here. I get that, and I’m a guy’s guy, myself. I can tell you I’d rather stay up and watch that for however long it’s on than the comparable number of “Seinfeld” episodes. Or even one, for that matter. Kate Middleton alone is worth it.

I don't give a fig, but unless I'm looking through this with the eyes of a British subject, my comments are irrelevant. It certainly means a lot to them, the Brits. We're the country, ex-British subjects, that told the monarchy to take a hike. But the Brits kept it on. If they want to make a big deal about it, that's their business.
p.s. My wife grew up in England, so this is a big deal for her. Even though she never wants to move back.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are destined to be somewhat public individuals in the future
These people were not.
