Wow, so much to think about! I haven’t had the soil tested because it was brand new soil....maybe it still needs something added. I was lucky last year and was practically pest free so I don’t think it was that. I guess the blooms could have fallen off, I will have to pay closer attention to that. Last year I had several business trips pop up while the garden was in the ground, hopefully this year I will be home consistantly to watch everything more closely. Your suggestion about researching the varieties I planted is a great idea! Thanks so much for your response. I am dying to have a ton of fresh tomatoes, I plan on eating a bunch and learning how to can the rest. Wish me luck!

It keeps raining and raining here in Ohio also. I wonder if most gardeners here are having trouble getting their gardens started. Luckily I have a large number of raised beds that drain nicely so I have no trouble getting things in. I highly recommend raised beds. The spinach I planted last fall is getting picked. The garlic is very tall already and the spring planted greens are up but quite small. I just found out you can overwinter turnips here also, a neighbor has been picking turnip greens for a month already. Another big storm tonight.

I am going to try really hard not to complain... As I saw the weather forecast my windy 45 degrees could be far worse. And if it were not for my raised beds I would not have anything out myself. They say this area will cool down to 36 degrees tonight and I took no chances and covered my blooming strawberries.

I also lightly covered my 4-5 inch tall snow peas and my potatoes just breaking through the soil with straw I pulled apart to give them some protection just in case.

The high here was 51 this morning and now it is 43 degrees. I have still not warmed up from covering the plants and digging up and shipping out some strawberry plants. I am cleaning out an old strawberry bed I plan, maybe, to plant corn.

I read/heard today that corn planting in the Midwest is going to be delayed because of the wet cold weather... Bad weather is sure going to NOT help the 'oil' production given we have hired idiots to subsidize the use of food production to fuel our vehicles.

Some days I can only shake my head in disgust at what the intellectuals come up with to destroy plain old common sense.

Oh My! Thank You for alerting me to that thread! I had not seen it. The video will make any Patriotic Citizen tear up for sure. Funny I was in Brandon, Ms that day 14th (my trip to Home Depot) I did not know the funeral was going on.

The story of how these good ole boys dealt with those lunies was great.

When we first came to Conroe to close on our house, there was a major traffic disruption. We thought possibly it was a parade, fire truck ladders were exented on either side of the road with a huge flag hanging from them above the road. Fire trucks and law enforcement of all descritions were everywhere. When we got by all the traffic, we found out that there was about to be a funeral procession for a local that died in Affganistan. We felt good about our new hometown and knew that we were with our own kind of America loving, patriotic people.

Looks like Fox News is fixing to report on the MS story on the Megyn Kelly show in a few min.

Keep those cards photos and letters coming so old man Bender has some motivation to take advantage of the decent weather here. So much to do, so little time energy to do it...

Be interesting to see if she glosses over their welcome in Ms. or speaks the truth of what happened to them.

A view of my wife's Marigolds, Lupines and other annuals in our 9' x 9' zipup greenhouse. We have already moved some of the earlier plants out onto the cold frame next to the garage. The larger bench is 4' X 8' and the other is 2' X 8' with a 2' walkway. We hope our next GH can be 10 X 12 or bigger. The green cells in the first photo are dwarf flowering sweet-peas that were pre-sprouted on the kitchen drainboard...

Farmer Bender went to great extremes to thwart critters who delight in my strawberries as much as I do. I had my son build the frames for these cages to keep the raccoons, possums and skunks away from them. The netting works on the birds but not the mammals so these are covered in 1" welded wire...

The Bell Beans are doing great in this crummy weather but it is time for them to go to the Great Compost pile in the sky Benders Bins...
