Windmills killing wildlife and adding to noise pollution, CFL light bulbs spreading mercury poisoning and causing fires, and now obama's beloved Volt is causing fires...can liberals do ANYTHING right?

The first fire, which occurred last Thursday about 5 a.m., destroyed the attached garage, the Chevrolet Volt and a Suzuki vehicle that had been converted so that it too ran on electricity.SMUG ALERT
Anyone with two Hybrids is in danger of being fatally smug.

I wish you hadn’t posted that. Suicide bombers everywhere will want one. Of course that might be good for GM.

Not volts, amps. Amps are the actual current flow. Volts is the “pressure”. Good question though. I would guess that the charger had a built in regulator that would limit the amperage to whatever the wiring and/or battery were rated for.
I’m guessing it would be pretty easy for any experienced fire investigator to determine the origin of the fire.

No need to spend that kinda bucks. My 95 F150 did the same thing about 6 AM on a Sunday morning sitting in front of my house. Ford said TS, file a claim with my insurance. They are all crooked as a dogs hind leg.

Yes amps. Got caught up in the rhyme, but when people have another item that has to be plugged in for long periods of time, it will increase the possibility of overloaded circuits, or problems with faulty outlets. I’d guess it pulls at least a few amps. And if the things stay on for the entire charge (not on and off like a refrigerator), that would make problems even more likely.

"Why is the Fire Marshal not looking into this but letting GM do it. "
Because the Fire Marshal got his marching orders from the Government to back off. See Atlas Shrugged Part I.
