Flashback: How Clinton exploited Oklahoma City for political gain
Washington Examiner ^ | January 10, 2011 | Byron York

Clinton was in deep political trouble in April 1995. Six months earlier, voters had resoundingly rejected Democrats in the 1994 mid-term elections, giving the GOP control of both House and Senate. Polls showed the public viewed Clinton as weak, incompetent and ineffective. House Speaker Newt Gingrich and his GOP forces seized the initiative on virtually every significant issue, while Clinton appeared to be politically dead. The worst moment may have come on April 18, the day before the bombing, when Clinton plaintively told reporters, "The president is still relevant here."

And then came the explosion at the Murrah Federal Building. In addition to seeing a criminal act and human loss, Clinton and Morris saw opportunity. If the White House could tie Gingrich, congressional Republicans and conservative voices like Rush Limbaugh to the attack, then Clinton might gain the edge in the fight against the GOP.

Morris began polling about Oklahoma City almost immediately after the bombing. On April 23, four days after the attack, Clinton appeared to point the finger straight at his political opponents during a speech in Minneapolis. "We hear so many loud and angry voices in America today whose sole goal seems to be to try to keep some people as paranoid as possible and the rest of us all torn up and upset with each other," he said. "They spread hate. They leave the impression that, by their very words, that violence is acceptable."

Yep I remember Clinton and his “voices of hatred” speech.

Tucson was supposed to be Obama’s “Oklahoma City” moment, but it doesn’t seem to have helped him long term in the polls. Obama had a “Tucson bounce” in the polls but it’s long gone.

Why are liberals able to get away with this sort of thing? Clinton was never called out on this, as far as I know, in incorrectly blaming talk radio for the bombing.

And that idiot sheriff in Arizona, who decried how Arizona has become ground zero for hatred and violence, and blamed the political climate for the shooting of a deranged man. Has that sheriff ever been called out for incorrectly blaming that Tucson shooting on the allegedly violent political climate????

It always seems to me that liberals are llowed to say and do anything, and do not get called out on things when it turns out they made factual errors in describing a situation.

But conservatives are pilloried for misspelling a word, or allegedly saying they can see another country from their house, and we’re lectured that such incidents prove the lack of intelligence and sophistication of said conservatives.

Yet a liberal can ask a handicapped man to stand up out of his wheelchair, or misstate the number of states in the union, and we’re not supposed to say anything. Yet we know if conservatives had said these same things, the reactions of the liberals and the MSM would have been very different.

Bombshell—declassified documents show OKC bombing done by Muslims

For many years investigative reporters have suspected that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols did not act alone in perpetrating the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 that killed 168 Americans and injured hundred more. According to newly-released documents, formerly classified, those suspcions were correct. The bombing was the work of Muslim terrorists. In a report released April 5 by the Center for Public Integrity, the FBI sat on explosive information indicating that the bombing was ordered by the Iraqi Special Services unit.
In addition, the report states that the FBI used an unnamed ABC news reporter as an informant who passed along critical information, which again was withheld from the public.
According to the Center for Public Integrity:
The journalist “advised that a source within the Saudi Arabian Intelligence Service advised that the Oklahoma City bombing was sponsored by the Iraqi Special Services who contracted seven (7) former Afghani Freedom Fighters out of Pakistan,” an April 17, 1996 FBI memo states, recounting the then-ABC journalist’s interview with FBI agents a year earlier on the evening of the April 19, 1995 bombing. (The Iraqi connection, of course, never materialized.).
But the assumption that the Iraqi connection never materialized appears to be more opinion than fact.
The formerly classified documents suggest a definite connection between the bombing and Middle Eastern terrorists. Utah lawyer Jesse Trentadue has been researching the Oklahoma City case since 1995 and discovered the documents in a box kept by attorneys who are working for alleged co-conspirator Terry Nichols:
The memo was recently discovered by Utah lawyer Jesse Trentadue, who has spent years researching the Oklahoma City case trying to prove a connection between the terrorist bombing and the death of his brother in an Oklahoma prison in the summer of 1995.
The root of the memo lies in Trentadue’s relationship with Terry Nichols, one of the defendants convicted in the 1995 terror attack, who is serving life in prison. Trentadue recently found the document — unredacted and still marked secret — in a box of documents gathered by Nichols’ defense attorneys.

I’ve always had my suspicions about the timing of his press conference where he pronounced that he was relevant, and then the OKC bombing happened.

Clinton was never called out on this, as far as I know, in incorrectly blaming talk radio for the bombing.

Because of two things. Shock and disbelief in the Conservative community--especially those outraged by the masssacre at Waco of a Church group by Federal forces--permitted Clinton in particular and the liberals in general to push the meme that somehow the OK City bombing was in retribution for Waco.

Note, too, that this took the wind out of the sails of the push for investigations into the slaughter at Mt. Carmel; the moral high ground had been lost by conservatives in the selfsame media which trumpeted the theme that somehow the images of a bloodied child in a firefighter's arms erased the evil of immolating children who had been beseiged for the last two months of their lives.

When one considers the deflection involved, it is small wonder that many Conservatives were hushed--Alinskyed into silence by the stigma of being associated in the public psyche with anyone who would perform such an horrific act.

Consider that the call for a repeal of the "Assault Weapons Ban" went dead in the water because of this same stigma, the Waco investigations were soft-pedalled and only partially available to those with CSPAN (some time between the close of House business and their early AM programming--anytime between 5 PM and 5AM, so you could not even set your VCR to catch it all), and the MSM (especially CNN) ONLY televised the first hour of Schumer's histrionics while cutting to commercial for questions from Republicans (five minute rule meant that the sides of the aisle alternated questioning for 5 minute periods--for CNN it meant 5 minutes of Dems, followed by 5 minutes of commercials, followed by 5 minutes of Dems...).

As a result, for most of America who even bothered to watch, the die was set that somehow the Branch Davidians were manufacturing drugs (not, and the Gov't knew it, and not the BATF's gig), were abusing children (not the jurisdiction of the BATF, not cause to assault the 'compound' with 100 armed agents of that agency), and in posession of unlicensed fully automatic weapons and explosive devices (which was never demonstrated--else they would have used them when they were defending their home).

As a result, the Clinton smear machine managed to lump Conservatives into the 'evil Neonazi baby-killer meme, en masse, and that general mindset persists and is still pushed by the likes of the SPLC, which has the willing ear of Federal Law Enforcement.

By the time the Obamites tried to pull this with the Giffords shooting, conservatives in general and gunowners in particular were wise to the tactic, and immediately and vocally stepped up to say "not us", and when the facts about the shooter's background came out, went on the verbal attack to point out that the shooter wasn't a conservative, nor a TEA partier, but a liberal whackjob.

Unless the media are spewing absolutely what willingly deluded people want to hear, people are beginning to realize the inaccuracies and falsehoods of what passes for journalism these days, and beginning to see that it won't pass the smell test of critical thinking.

Of course, that leaves roughly 40% of the population sucking up the pap, because they are hearing exactly what they want to.

We are on the defensive in the PSYOPS war, and we have to understand, not only what happened, but why it worked, or we will be doomed to manipulation by the same tactics.

So far, Conservatives have handled the Arizona shooting incident well, calling to account those who villified Conservatives, the TEA party movement, and gun owners before the facts were even out, as well as our genuine and gracious well wishes for Mrs. Giffords' recovery (along with the other wounded) and sincere condolences for the survivors of those who did not make it.
