You sure about that? It said from Garnett Station to West End which is headed to the airport. Next station north of Garnett is 5 Points I think.

Garnett’s on the east-west line, and the airport’s on the north-south line.

Dude, I’ve ridden Marta for the last 8 years, and I have had ZERO run ins. I’ve only seen two.

OK I suck. Garnett IS on the North-south line.

I only work in .40 cal. 9mm is underpowered and .45 gives too few rounds.

No problem, wouldn't want you to get into trouble here.

Actually, most of Atlanta is still just fine. There are some very good suburban communities fairly close in - full of decent working class and middle class people, black and white. You just have to know where they are.

The Peachtree Street corridor is still o.k. in the daytime (and even at night, within reason, i.e. don't be prowling around after midnight), and yes, there are still many very pretty girls working in the offices along Peachtree.

You're right about the WWII vets and what they were armed with -- the same guys that cleaned the shelves of ammo and reloading components during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also a sprinkling of Korea vets and deer rifles, but I'm told (I wasn't there) that it looked like a Springfield and Garand convention. In those days you could bring home all sorts of stuff from the Army and nobody cared. My dad had a basement full of things he had no business having (but we kids loved it!)

West of Connector isn't that bad anymore. Since the gentrification from 14th and Howell Mill down to Coca-Cola and the Aquarium, the bad actors have mostly moved further west. They still come over and mug Georgia Tech students because they know they are not armed. My grandfather (Tech '18 EE) would not recognize the wussy, screaming liberal, politically-correct administration at Tech today. But he would have a thing or two to say to them.

I was thinking more of the area from Ponce south into the Renaissance Parkway, Boulevard, and Auburn area. Much worse than the Tech/Williams St. area IMHO.

I'll keep my eye peeled for the next FR get-together.

If they were going to, or from ATL, they probably couldn’t carry, even if they had a permit.
A lot of workplaces won’t tolerate armed employees, either. For instance, at my job, they’d lose it completely if someone carried concealed on site.

Oh, yeah, good point about that area. Not a place someone traveling through would be likely to end up in. And yes, from the north Connector West roughly to the railroad tracks isn’t bad, but across the tracks all bets are off. And of course I-20 West from the Connector to the Perimeter - fuggetaboutit!

I didn't remember hearing that the bill to expand carry passed.

The media wasn't in favor of it, of course.

After a lawsuit several years ago, employers in GA are not allowed to prohibit licensed owners from having arms in vehicles even on company property nor can they search the vehicles except under four narrow circumstances.

The problem with public transportation is that it’s public.

Uh....I think you got that backward, my friend. The .45 has long been valued for its stopping power.

The 9mm has higher velocity and energy.

It’s sort of like the 9mm is a high speed knife and the .45 is a high speed metal dowl.

The media wasn't in favor of it, of course.

Ah yes, the "disappearing coverage" phenomenon. The breathless coverage of how the sky will fall if the bill passes, and then when it passes, absolutely no mention of it at all. And no follow up later when against all urine soaked mattress predictions, the world doesn't end, concealed carry holders don't gun down hoardes of Mexicans and blacks in the streets, etc.

One through the floor brings anyone advancing towards you into slow motion

Two through the chest stops 'em cold...I don't want them advancing towards me even in slow motion. Ever see that study on how quickly an attacker with a knife can close a 21ft distance? Remember that a dying man can still harm you...a dead one cannot.
