Fashion is a progressive industry that changes with the wind and the tolerance of the people. Though women continually stretch the boundaries in the name of style, mens fashion trends commonly remain in the safe zone most of the time. Occasionally, however, men become courageous en masse, and the end results were typically disastrous. Below are notable trends that came and went (some stayed longer than others), and were all wiser for having learned from them.

Not a bad list. I was going to say the leisure suit or Nehru jacket, but the items on this list dwarf those in terms of bad taste (IMHO, the Mullet is #1).
The only item I disagree with is the sweater vest—I think they’re great.
The “strapless”!!!
Wearing your baseball cap sideways. Also hate the new large, flat bills.
Half the guys modeling these things look gayer than Elton John giving a free concert at a San Francisco bath house.
Most of them are “holy crap, you’ve got to be kidding me!” weird, but what is wrong with a turtle neck?
IMHO, crocs are the biggest no-no, I commonly see. I don’t care how comfortable they are (and they are, don’t ask me how I know). Men should not wear crocs.
Spot on the baseball cap worn sideways, backways, etc., anyway except as protection for eyes. True story - I recently attended a track meet and saw a young man being unconventional in a very conventional way (a conforming nonconformist?), ie., wearing his cap with bill to the back. As God is my witness he was using a hand to shield his eyes from the sun’s rays. This whole trend is a thug mentality, very popular with rappers and hip hoppers. Its also made its way into sports, at least the flat bill aspect. They look ridiculous and are immersed in a herd mentality. Ditto, the tattoos. This is not an expression of individuality. If they want to do that they should avoid the herd and learn a different way to express their individuality, like, maybe read a book.
The one they forgot to add was the jeans with the crotch hanging down about knee level, making it look like the gangsta wannabe has a load in his shorts.
I am so manly I don’t even know what ‘croc’s are
...little help?
I will wear a sweater vest and turtleneck around the house. Not so much as a fashion thingy, but they do keep me warm.
The leisure suit, and the exposed underwear with pants down to the groin need to be on that list. And add spiked hair - as bad as a combover.
“...learn a different way to express their individuality, like, maybe read a book.”
Not a chance. :-)
That list is sooo 2009.
Didn’t you see the “No hotlinking” sign on my profile page?
The man purse thing didn’t even get off the deck. Looking at these “fashion” trends one has to make sterotypical assumptions about the designers involved.
Something about those that instantly drops the perception of their IQ level
Certainly worked for Steve McQueen in BULLITT.....
As for sweater vests, I love 'em. Extra warmth but not too restrictive.....
