Nearly 10,000 To Attend Easter Service At The [Hollywood, California] Bowl
CBS) ^ | April 23, 2011 3:03 PM

The service, which has been organized by the Bel Air Presbyterian Church, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and will include the church choir, its Modern Worship Band and a professional orchestra.

The Hollywood Bowl’s longtime tradition of hosting a sunrise service on Easter Sunday was brought to a halt last year as a result of construction on the landmark shell.

This Easter would have marked the 90th Anniversary of the sunrise services, which at one time were broadcast to a national radio audience numbering in the millions. Worshippers overflowed the Hollywood Bowl, and until a decade ago the sunrise services were also telecast on LA stations.

For more information about the free service, visit the Church’s Web site.

Considering it's California and Hollywood, I'm surprised this is legal. They're probably hoping to get it done before the injunction is issued.

They have gotten away with it for a long time.

"They have gotten away with it for a long time."

Probably because of the time of day. I have no doubt that most people in Hollywood aren't even conscious at 11:00AM - it's likely they are never aware that it happened.

It’s walking distance away from us...looong walk. At least we don’t fight for parking just to watch a summer gig. The only one my GF is interested in is the Sept 2 Totally 80’s show with Berlin, The Fixx, B-52’s and Human League. Told her if Guns N Roses showed up, I’m in.

Lefties know that megachurchers are not much of a threat. They live exactly the same as non-believers.

When I was a kid of about 8, (50 years ago),
my sister was part of the choir at an Easter Sunrise service at the Hollywood Bowl.
Agnes Moorhead was the guest leader and it was spectacular.
Last summer I took my wife and son for a vacation to L.A.
and one fo the first places we went to was the Bowl.
A Tuesday morning we went and parked and like always we were able to go in and walk around the magnificant bowl.
Everyone is welcome to come look aroound.
1st concert I ever saw was there, I saw John B.Sebastian along with the Lovin Spoonful. Warmup group was aduo named Simon and Garfunkel.
