Syfy acquired the rights to all 31 episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles but is pulling the plug on the 4-5 hour blocks of them after only three weeks (including tonights episodes) and will replace them with blocks of Star Trek: The Next Generation reruns beginning next Thursday.
Perhaps Syfy is trying to not be out sci-fied by BBC America which also airs Star Trek: TNG reruns and also just acquired the rights to air Syfy hit (from the SciFi days) Battlestar Galactica. Not to mention BBC America just announced a co-production deal on the UK version of Being Human, and of course BBCA will be airing Doctor Whos sixth season beginning with the premiere this Saturday.
Syfy also announced (via Twitter) that it was moving Sanctuary from Fridays to Mondays beginning Monday, April 25.
Lena Headey fans can still catch her on HBOs Game of Thrones
I won’t spoil this for you, but you won’t recognize the show by the time you reach the series finale...
Oh and don’t worry about the lesbians.. they’ll show up
Land of the Giants
The Wild Wild West (Steampunk!!!!)
The Invaders
UFO
Space: 1999
The Thunderbirds (and other Supermarionation stuff)
The pro wrestling and ghost hunting needs to stop.
Well, the show “Firefly” was cancelled and left unresolved. It was then picked up and the re-runs aired on Sci-Fi and got ratings to the level that it justified a movie “Serenity”. The movie explained alot and the ending while still open, resolved a ton of things.
Just learned it was on but then they’re gone. Caught only the tail end of ONE episode. Keep it a secret (ok, just not much publicity) and then stop because no one is watching it? Sheesh.
While "BSG" was 'resolved' in the end, it was a BS copout and I would NEVER think to watch any rerun episodes, let alone buy the whole series for posterity....
Firefly, imo was reasonably terminated given the circumstances, it's because I think the overall premise was more timeless and didn't require final resolution.
While I agree with you calling “SyFy” the Science Fiction channel is a joke anymore... try to find something worth a damn on it.. its all horror or vampire movies or crap.. with the exception of course of hours and hours of Star Trek Enterprise (the crapfest of the Star Trek franchise) on.
However I don’t know if I disagree with the call to end FarScape.. don’t get me wrong this is a great Science Fiction Series, probably as seminal a series as any ever made, at least in the US. However, this was also a show, where if you missed an episode or two, you were completely lost... and if you were a new viewer trying to jump in in a later season, you could almost forget about it. This did hinder this show’s ability to draw audience in the later seasons. This constantly evolving plot, made for a great story, but it also hindered the viability of the show.
It was highly serialized, watching the episodes, in order mattered, you couldn’t miss or jump in the middle without getting confused.
I personally wish they hadn’t cancelled the show and had the final season instead of the movie to wrap it all up, but at least they did indeed wrap it all up.. which is better than most Sci Fi gets.
I understand the cancelling of this show, far more than I will EVER understand the cancelling of Firefly. You want to get upset about a network not giving a truly amazing Science Fiction program a chance, the decision to cancel this show will never ever make any sort of sense.
BSG entire existence was cop out lazy shock value writing.. none of it made any sense, by the middle of season 2 or so, you couldn’t even recognize it as what the show started as, by the end it was just an abject joke.
Sure it was low brow entertainment, with decent production values, but nowhere near what it could have been.
It was basically what you get when you have soap opera writers doing a sci fi. Started out well, but the desire to simply shock at all costs all the time, turned it into a mess.
Still far worse shows have been on TV.. and they didn’t cheap out on the production values.. so I would recommend others watch it if they have never seen it, but it certainly did not live up to its potential.
I think that the new BSG and SG-U shared some of the same directors/writers.
There are a lot of similarities - watching SGU, I kept waiting for someone to say “frack”.
once upon a time ~ I predicted that all the cable networks would turn to Mexican wrestling.
“The Time Tunnel” amounted to “Scooby Doo” for adults.
Dead on!!!!!

Three episodes left, I think.
I wonder what the ratings are for the Ghost hunting shows.
Oh and dont worry about the lesbians.. theyll show up"
Dang. Unless the lesbians turn out to the be the same model of Cylon.
Not looking for a spoiler, but when the fighter pilots leave the briefing room, they touch a photo posted by the door. Is that supposed to be the Commander's dead son?

I would like to see Star Trek: Deep Space 9 reruns...
I agree regarding Firefly.
Since I barely know what Scooby Do is(never watched it!), I reject your analogy!
