But get back to me when someone can cite an official definition of “natural born citizen” set out by the Constitution, Congress or the Supreme Court.
Excellent questions. The discussions about legitimacy, transparency, genealogy, who's married to whom, and when, etc have now gone on for 4 or 5 years. Many of the original source and documentation have now been quite thoroughly scrubbed and are no longer available. In the meantime, as you have noticed, the discussions, failing the appearance of any authority to winnow the "wheat from the chaff" have turned in upon themselves and become convoluted.
This of course, has worked tremendously to the advantage of Team Obama, and it has worked through fair means and foul, to encourage the confusion, mis-information, dis-information, and improbable scenarios.
The real question you have is,
"Why doesn't Obama just tell everyone the straight story?"

This is my birth certificate. It doe/does not have any amendment because I was/was not adopted by Lolo Soetoro.
I used/ never used the name 'Barry Soetoro' in the US.
I used/did not use other names.

This is information those who ask nicely should have from any candidate... especially one of rather improbable provenance!
In re your original question to me: Some 2 or 3 years ago .... I believe ... documentary evidence was obtained in Hawaii that the BC had been amended, the timing indicating that the child had been adopted by Lolo Soetoro at the time of his marriage in Hawaii in 1965 to Stanley Ann and the original sealed. The original documents were not forthcoming, but the Indices were. They did not correlate to later releases of Indices, and now the records are, contrary to Hawaiian Law, not being made available.
But all of this is smoke and mirror. The real issue is the issue of "Natural Born Citizenship," and its definition in regard to candidates by referring to the intent of the founders. I do not believe it will be handled in regard to Barack Obama ... or perhaps now that certain elements on the right are pushing the candidacy of Marco Rubio and Bobby Jindal, it will never be handled at all.
The time for this fight was in 2007 and 2008. Wisely from his point of view, Obama intends, by selectively releasing information. Instead of answering the questions, he will keep the rumble going past 2012 as a means of discrediting his opposition (such as it i).

Why don’t you explain to us why he was registered in school in Indonesia as Barry Soetoro and why he used that name for several years while over there. Also explain why he signed documents that said he has never used any other names or alias’s.
Because he was a 6 year old kid who did what his parents told him to do? Still no proof of adoption.
And if there was a adoption, it would have been in Indonesia, not Hawaii. Hawaii would not have been aware of it and so his legal name in America would have never changed.
