After looking at it with EARTHQUAKE 3D, it appears the whole ring of fire Pacific circle is ringing like a bell.

Try viewing it with this.
http://www.wolton.net/quake.html
Go to the link, download the FREE program. (takes 2 seconds) and then run it.
View earthquakes worldwide, from any point you want, spin the planet fast or slow, zoom in/out, change time factor or magnitude, plus many other controls.
It’s awesome, and free. And you can see patterns much better.

How do you define “significant”?

As I said in the above post. I have been collecting earthquake data since 1973, I can see the pattern and the overall picture. Although I love the current picture, I love the overall pattern better ... ain’t looking good.

Below is an updated chart I put together based on USGS data. Last column (2011) is projected based on first quarter 2011 data. Activity has actually decreased considerably after the first quarter. Will do another update in June.

I agree. Here's the reason why: with the modern Internet, a lot of earthquakes that would never be reported in the past are now being reported--and thanks to web sites like the one from the US Geological Survey, we can find out within seconds where the earthquake occurred.

Exactlly. Like the current earthquake swarm near Hawthorne Nevada, no one would have noticed before the internet because it is just sagebrush and burros out there.

We had a weak mag 2 in southern Minnesota today.

How do you define significant? Double normal occurrence of around 5 - 6 or less daily. Maybe nothing to it, just a heads up for those of us who track this.

Oh my gosh I just popped up my Earthquake 3D program and it’s all around the ring of fire in the last day. YIKES, that is creepy.

I have kept track also. Does the string of quakes going east from Chihuahua, MX to eastern Tennessee look normal to you? Not to me. Not trying to be argumentative. Am truly interested in your opinion. (We are not that far from the 5.0 in the Gulf of California. We live prepared. Experienced the Easter Sunday quake of 2010. Sustained some damage.)
