Because the “story” has evolved and they can’t keep it straight.
First of all, you can’t trust wikipedia. Anybody can edit and it is loaded with mistakes.
That being said, it is probably closer to the truth but nothing about Barry Soetero is truthful or correct. The facts change to suit the situation and the 2012 election campaign has started already.

Parental opposition...I can only imagine, in the late 1950's, interracial dating, then getting pregnant out of wedlock with a mixed race baby. That must have gone over like a ton of bricks Heck, they're are a lot of areas of the country today where it would still raise a few eyebrows.

There’s another error. Stanley Ann Dunham wasn’t raised in Kansas. Her family lived in Kansas, Texas, California, New York State and Washington State during her childhood. Those are the places we have good evidence for. There might have been others.
At least one source says they lived in Ontario, Canada for a while, another says British Columbia, Canada. Doubtful. A third source says they lived in England for two years while Stanley Armour Dunham was in the USAAF. He did but his wife and kid not so likely.
By comparison the stupid marriage date, not so significant. Anyway Stanley Ann got her own date of marriage to Lolo wrong, at least once.
Oh, yeah, ignore the crazies who say they lived in Beirut, Lebanon, at one time.
There is a rumor Montreal, Quebec is a possibility.
I like to go with solid evidence.

Here are a couple notes to add to the confusion:
1. ‘Dreams from My Father’ Ch 1 states “He [Obama Sr.] had left Hawaii back in 1963, when I was only two years old, so that as a child I knew him only through the stories that my mother and grandparents told.”
Obama Sr was supposed to have left Hawaii in 1962 and not 1963.
2. In the book ‘The Dream Begins: How Hawai’I shaped Barack Obama’ Ch 7 pg 69, Obama himself states “My father, who I didn’t know, returned to KENYA when I was just two [1963].”
This passage shows that Obama can’t even keep the phony story straight.
