A scruffy Alabama terrier mix named Mason was whisked away by fierce twisters last month, prompting his owners, who lost their home in the storm, to fear the worst. But the redoubtable mutt apparently crawled back to his home days later with two broken legs in a remarkable tale of survival.
Local news outlet WBRC reports that Mason was blown away by the storm from the garage in Birmingham where he was hiding on April 27. His owners looked for him everywhere but couldn't find him. Two and a half weeks later, though, they found Mason waiting for them on their front porch when they returned to the house to look through the debris

Oh, I hope the Vet can “fix” his legs. What a sweet puppy.

Here’s an update on him....
BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Update**:As of Wednesday night, Mason has been x-rayed and put on an IV. His vets at the Vulcan Park Animal Clinic plan to operate on his two broken legs Friday. They will use plates and maybe pins to help realign his bones. Doctors think it will be a long, but ultimately successful recovery.

I nursed a Schnauzer back to health after a broken hip when he had been hit by a car. He had a titanium plate implanted, but it was expensive and was a difficult recovery period. Worth every penny and every bit of time, however. Kudos to the vet who is helping him with his recovery. Sad that the owners don’t seem to want him back.

Praise God for all those who are being found alive after such ferocious storms!
Our poor neighbor is hoping her bird comes home before either the hawk nearby or the coming storm gets it.

That is not true. My cats follow me around the house and so do the dogs. (I have eight cats and two dogs.)

I LOVE animal stories like this. We have a cat, now 3-legged, who dragged himself back to our house because he knew we'd take care of him.
He'd been an outside tom cat who adopted us, and has been the most loving, grateful inside guy ever since the vet amputated the leg that was badly mangled and infected.
Everyone just loves him.
