Wonderful story! Mason looks a lot like my little Cairn terrier mix, Bobbi. She is smaller at 12#. I am so glad for Mason’s family.

Young cats must have access to clean water, and plenty of it, or they will die years later from undersized kidneys.

I found that out after taking in an orphaned kitten that had been a stray. Even with the best of care after her ordeal, she had to be euthanized at age 9 due to kidney failure.

Your post reminds me of the time I broke my leg and was waiting outside the OR for surgery. They brought in this poor guy - also with a broken leg. He was a school janitor. He told me the kids used to throw their pencils on the stairs and then watch people slip and fall. (our tax dollars bought those pencils, btw)

Anyway, the poor janitor slipped on one of the pencils and fell down the flight of stairs. He said the worst part about it was when he was being carried away on the stretcher all the kids lined up and taunted him. Nice, huh.

Cats would never do that.

I’m not sure where you read that the owners don’t seem to want him back. The article states:

“”We are excited that he will be going back to his family and to the home where he finally returned after 3 weeks,” he wrote. Mason is expected to be able to walk completely normally after he recovers in about six weeks, though his front legs will be a bit shorter than his back legs. Mason’s family has requested to not be named in the media, Doster added, but they are “very excited” for Mason to come home when their house is again habitable in about five weeks.”

Thanks for posting this uplifting story nuconvert. Nice to have a story with a happy ending, after hearing of all the sad misery from the ravaged states. God Bless all the two and four-legged critters effected.

whenever a story of a dog doing something amazing is posted all the cat lovers feel it’s okay to post something about cats?

Nobody complains about what YOUR dog posts on the cat threads here while you're not home......

The first article said that they were unable to take him back because their house had been destroyed. A followup article said that Mason would be returned to his owners in about 6 weeks after his legs had healed from surgery.

Some kids are just plain mean.

PS - I don't hate cats, I just can't be around them because of allergies. I know they are great pets too.

A cat would expect you to find them.

Not true.

“Can’t have a thread with just dogs, that would be discriminatory.”

Right, we wouldn’t want to be specie-ist.

The cat found her. Probably was hiding from fear after the tornado, which for a cat is normal, and it came out when he heard her voice.

this is incredibly painful to watch, but shows what the dog endured for two weeks

I hope mason isn’t one of those dogs people just keep in garage with no love.
I was just thinking about that
Melissa
but apparently he loves his owners
my dogs are with me constantly 24 hours a day when i am not working

That video is just wonderful! As a cat owner, I can well imagine how Miss Judy felt when she couldn’t find one of her kitties. He must have been hanging around the ruins of their former home and heard her talking to the reporter. I’m so glad that their reunion was filmed. Truly heartwarming.

I saw a video of him crawling/trying to walk and his feet just flailing around. Hence the hanky alert.

The vet said after his surgery, that his front legs will be a little shorter than his back legs, but he'll get around fine.
