Theres no better way to see D.C. than on the back of a Harley! My family may be used to snowmachines more so than motorcycles (though you couldnt tell it with Todd driving a hog today with Piper on the back and with Bristol riding on the back of another bike). But whether youre riding the open road or the frozen tundra, youre celebrating a free spirit. What could be more American than that?
Todays Rolling Thunder rally in DC is all about freedom. And its about duty and loyalty and service. The message heard loud and clear through the roar of tens of thousands of bike engines declared, We will never forget our heroes left behind! Truly, our POWs and MIAs honored today are Americas real heroes.
some pics from a friend who was able to go
You did an excellent job and your friend’s photos are wonderful!!!!
Fantastic pictures. Thanks for posting them.
Sunburnt and sore, I just returned from riding ‘Rolling Thunder’ in Washington DC for Memorial Day. Any vet or serving service member with a bike- irrespective of manufacture- should ride this at least once. I saw lots of Japanese marques, a dirt bike and a scooter or two.
It was a deeply moving experience- it’s hours later and I’m still overwhelmed.
Great pics! I shot video of the whole route and a couple of stills. Still fumbling with them. I didn’t see Sarah unfortunately. I wish I had. There were like 650k bikes there I’m told. The air was shaking with low-frequency rumble for and hour and a half before our file got to depart from the Pentagon parking lot.
I also found out that I can sleep soundly on my bike on it’s kickstand without touching the ground. We were in ‘hurry up and wait’ mode for hours and hours. :-)
Any other Freepers there?
I would have been but have been laid out sick since Friday evening.... Im going to miss all the rides I wanted to do this weekend... even Perks only take the edge off...
I’m sorry to hear it; y’all get well soon now, y’hear?
Who was Sarah riding with?
Now I'll forever beat myself for not attending this year.
Lucky Lady
“Who was Sarah riding with?”
Willow Palin
Thanks for the pics! I was at the Rolling Thunder banquet last evening. Nancy Sinatra was there and gave a great talk. God bless her and Sarah!!!
Who was driving the Harley that Sarah rode on?
Notice how infrequently Sarah uses the pronoun "I" or "me" in her press releases? VERY unlike Obama.
Rolling Thunder is a reassurance that we still have our liberty. Sarah Palin is a strong voice protecting it.
Great pictures.
Sarah is also comfortable being photographed with the flag and with a cross. She doesn't use them as props for photos, that's just who she really is. The far left fringe is scared - thank God!
It wasn’t her daughter, my guess is that it was a former cop/FBI/SS/security person...
