If you've ever been blessed to share space with a feline
You'll soon be aware that these creatures define
Grace and elegance with an unique and haughty air

On silent paws they creep while you are fast asleep
Checking for things amiss with fastidious care
Either indoors or wrapped in the ebon cool of night

For all the cat sees belongs to she or he
And that includes pets and hugs when the time is right
The cat will let you know when that time will be

Though if life sometimes is sad
The cat will sense it and won't get mad
If you lift and hug it close for a silent tete a tete

In Feline Contracts it is quietly noted
In small print and rarely quoted
That every day can be "Hug Your Cat Day"

Having 4 cats to care for daily, I especially appreciate the cat postings.

There is a miniature poodle to be the boss of it all. Taking in an outside cat that came to be with me when I worked in the flowerbeds. One day she carried newly born kittens down to be close to the source. The dog was there already. “Annie” lived in the garage. Found a home for the three kittens, and Annie came inside much of the day. Then a twin showed up. So after a few times I took this one, “Roma” in also. We were happy. Both females. Had them neutered.

We can learn from having animals around us. They accept things as they are. Make no demands, except when being hungry, and then it is silent. Come and stand silently by me until I notice they want something. They love to play. Make sleep look enticing. like being brushed and sitting by me. We are good for each other. They hide when strangers come. Alert and wary. Very peaceful.
I appreciate their presence. They try to befriend the dog. He is never sure how to make friends. But they all come be by me when I watch TV.

How people can be cruel to animals is incomprehensible to me.

Animals are good for us. They can be so relaxing and/or entertaining.

We have two dogs and two cats. Watching Daisy (the pup) and Max (the old man) play together is so entertaining. I think Max will be in big trouble when Daisy grows up. She loves to get him in a tug of war contest. :)

Mr Mittens (our cat) and Licorice ( a stray) do not like each other. They are both males but Mr Mittens has ben neutered. I found lots of patches of cat hair in the garage yesterday but they are both still here. :) Mr Mittens is both an indoor and an outdoor cat. He comes in every morning for his can of cat food. He also comes in when Marissa gets home from school. Licorice does not come in. Marissa plays with him in the yard.

There was a small dog in our front yard yesterday. MrJust gave him something to eat and some water. He left later in the afternoon. I hope he went home.

Our pets are part of our family.
