Donald Trump dings Eric Cantor, reprises birther talk
Politico ^ | June 3, 2011 | JUANA SUMMERS

While most speakers at the Faith and Freedom Coalition played up conservative themes, Donald Trump delivered a crowd-pleasing reprise of a few old favorite themes.

But also in his sights: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who has called for spending offsets for disaster-relief funds following a tornado in Joplin, a southwest Missouri town, that killed at least 138 people.

“Rep. Cantor, who I like, said we don’t want to give money to the tornado victims. And yet in Afghanistan, we’re spending $10 billion a month,” Trump said. “But we don’t want to help the people that got devastated by tornadoes, wiped out, killed, maimed, injured.

Trump’s only attempt to show his social conservative bona fides came at the outset of his speech when he showed a blow-up of his confirmation class picture from First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, N.Y.

“It doesn’t always play, but in this crowd, it plays,” he said.

The last time Trump was in Washington, he noted, he attended the White House Correspondents Dinner, where he bore the brunt of jokes from President Barack Obama and “Saturday Night Live” head writer Seth Meyers.

Trump insisted that he and his wife Melania were “honored” by the attention and was surprised to see headlines that said he was “humiliated” by the jabs thrown his way.

“Nobody is protected like Barack Hussein Obama,” the real estate mogul said of the media’s coverage of the president’s tenure. “I have never seen press that is so protective of a human being before.”

SO if Trump isn’t running for president, why continue the show?

He makes a good point about foreign aid, especially with the current debt. We need to take care of our own citizens as first priority.

Well, the media is supporting Zero, the RINOs are afraid of Zero AND the media, so it is nice to see someone taking it to Zero. Does anybody care about America anymore? Go Trump.

Exactly and I hope he keeps talking. The media cannot shut him up and Trump hurts Obama every time he says something. I also think the more he talks, the less "power" the GOP elite, business as usual crowd, has control.

“I have never seen press that is so protective of a human being before.”

So, that’s their main job now, just like in the old Soviet Union.

They should be so proud of themselves.

more clarity of thought than any rino presidential seeker.

Trump is thumbing his nose at the GOP establishment and taking the fight to Obama. Too bad we don’t have many Republicans who are willing to do the same.

Saturday I saw a photo of some US Marines in a Fresno, Ca grove receiving instruction on agricultural practices, which they will be expected to pass on to Afghani farmers.
It’s good to see that we have learned from history, have our national priorities straight, and aren’t engaging in `nation-building’ and repeating the mistakes of the past.

With Edwards on the sidelines, would Mr. Trump challenge Ubama in a Democrat Primary? What if Mr. Trump claims the BC is a fraud and declares Ubama not eligible?

Yes if Trump wants to talk smack about Obama let him fire away. He can and will say stuff no GOP candidate will say. I say swing away Donald. Hit a couple of runs for the team.

I am impressed with Mr. Trump and his stand against China.

And for almost that reason alone I am drawn to become a supporter for him.

And in effect I would support an alliance with Sarah Palin and Mr. Trump as candidates to become leaders of America.

Both are patriots and both love America, most assuredly something the current resident does NOT practice or preaches.

Thanks opentalk. From the 3rd.

I find it strange that advocating for Dopey Toupee isn’t a one-way ticket out of FR, the same as advocating for Mitt.

Oddly enough, that’s not a toupee. He pushed his hair out of the way on TV (I forget the show, I saw it on YouTube) and showed his hairline.

Why someone with a full head of hair would wear it in a strange comb over, I cannot imagine.

But there you have it.

As to the substance of your post, I do believe that the Donald is setting himself up to be a spoiler ala Ross Perot if he runs. He is certainly no conservative.
