I’m going to be cremated in the most enviormentally unfriendly way possible. Hopefully following that I want my ashes shot into space.

I had a conversation some years back with a friend about the “green” movement and I said that it was only a matter of time (IMHO) that burying people will be banned. It will be cremation or nothing. I think they will push the whole “how much land is used to bury the dead” and the “it harms mother earth” stuff. Just my opinion.
I’m logging in for this one.
Let’s just give them what they want. Everyone over 55 march into the cattle cars and do the world a favor. While the rest of the “workers” takes your last fortunes we will be a United Germany, whoops I mean a better off one world order.
No, really. The tides will subside, the climate will cooperate. We will have very rich dictators show us the way.

As it is, I want to be cremated and the ashes buried under a tree in my yard.
I have ~no~ desire to be planted in cemetery although, ironically, I spend a *lot* of time in them now, photographing statuary.
I like the idea of soylent green. We can feed them to starving African children. Heck it’s the libs fault they have no food in the first place.

Funerals are for the living, not the dead.
It makes more sense to express your love and respect for somebody while they’re still alive to hear it, IMO.
The problem is if someone dies of disease and gets “just buried” the remains can theoretically seep into the groundwater. Like poisoning a well by throwing a dead animal into it.
Can we make it 65, or 75?

I think there could be burials six feet deep without the metal caskets and cement vaults. Let the ground do what it has done since life came forth upon the Earth.
My last wife came up with the most innovative idea I’d ever heard for ‘burial’. When a person dies, cremate them then use their ashes to make a bust of them or a useful step in the garden walk or a seat out in a shaded arbor garden. I favored the statue version best. Gonna have that done and give it to my granddaughter or grandson. A ‘stpiend’ will accompany the bust, to pay for reduced room and board, perhaps a few thousand dollars should do it.

That puts Jews about 3500 years ahead of the curve? It is amazing how some traditions no matter how old still are ahead of the times no matter what era it might be.
