Stuff...

FIA president Jean Todt has said that although Lewis Hamilton escaped punishment over his outburst in the aftermath of the Monaco Grand Prix it might have been better to give him a ban. "He wrote to me and it was between him and the FIA," Todt said. "Maybe it would have been a better decision to send him to the judicial court and ban him for six grands prix or something but for me this thing is over." (Press Association)

Mark Webber has conceded that he is struggling to get the best from the new Pirelli tyres this season, which goes some way to explaining his dip in form this year compared to Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

McLaren have begun work at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix. The team report: "Arrived in a hot and thundery Montreal paddock - the boys are already busy doing pit-stop practice.

Virgin driver Timo Glock is also keeping his eye on the weather in Montreal. "Just did track walk pretty hot here but looks like it's cooling down over weekend. Chance of rain for Sunday now!"

Williams chief executive Adam Parr says it is "just too late" to change the F1 calendar this season after the FIA decided to reinstate the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The long-term commitment of Renault to Formula 1 is starting to look uncertain after Todt suggested the team may withdraw if the planned switch to 1.6-litre turbo engines is not adopted in 2013. Full story: Diario Sport (in Spanish)

Renault team boss Eric Boullier has denied rumours of financial difficulty, which first surfaced in 2010 when the team attempted to secure advance payment of their share of F1 revenues in order to cover a shortfall in expected sponsorship income.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso expects the double DRS zone at Montreal will give a "big advantage" to drivers trying to overtake during the race. "For the first time this year we will have two places where it will be possible to use the DRS on Sunday," the Spaniard said. "I'm interested to see what will happen."

it's a great weekend... stay in the city and take the underground to the track and back

then goto the bus station and cash out all the funny money at spot rates before leaving so's not to have to bring any of it home

it used to be a real bargain with the higher dollar exchange rate, don't think so now though

It is fun....we happened to be living in Vancouver, BC during one....in a condo 8 stories above the straightaway....we had a party...I bought ear plugs and when everyone came in most said, Oh, No, I won’t need those, but by the end of the race everyone was using them. It gets REALLY loud.

Formula 1 bosses have banned the sport's latest must-have technical tweak from next month's British Grand Prix.

Governing body the FIA has written to the teams explaining how it plans to dramatically limit teams' ability to exploit exhausts to increase downforce.

Teams have been tuning engines to blow gases into the critical diffuser area even when drivers are off throttle.

NOTE TO SELF:

don't build a race track on an island in the middle of a river between two large bodies of water

also - a crown on the roadway and ample drainage IS GOOD

Race finished...finally. And I thought cricket matches were mind-numbingly long... (whatever ‘cricket’ might be. I just hear it just goes on and on for days.)

And *now* just wait for Button getting a 10 sec penalty by the stewards for that incidence with Hamilton earlier in the race - frankly, deservedly so IMO. Weaving toward the left and putting Hamilton into the wall under conditions that were difficult enough already was a nasty move. Still, him putting Vettel under pressure to that last-lap error was great to watch. Good fun.
