He used to live behind my house in Pleasant Grove, Alabama! Had to have super powers to get the bird feeder after all the things I did to stymie him. I finally gave up and started leaving pecans and sunflower seeds out on the other side of the house from the feeder. He had regular disagreements with the blue hornet (a Bluejay which liked the seeds, too).

Actually I think it looks pretty good. An update, but not a total departure from the classic Superman uniform. The red underwear on the outside of his pants really had to go.

All hail Comrade Superman!

Maybe it's for the best. Superman was always something of a dick.

Actually, there’s going to be a black Batman. Batwing is a member of the League of Batmen (don’t ask) and is a superhero who operates throughout Africa. Personally, I would have chosen Knight and Squire (the British version of Batman and Robin) for a solo title.

“Batwing is a member of the League of Batmen”

They’re really a group of military officers’orderlies. And their theme song? “I was Kaiser Bill’s Batman”, admirably performed by Whistling Jack Smith.

Sure, nothing that isn’t made of Kryptonite can pierce his skin, but haven’t you ever wondered how his costume survives walking through fire, hail of bullets, etc. ? Maybe he needs armored boots so he doesn’t have to replace them constantly.

No, Graphic Novels are one-shot stories and not part of the regular serialized story of the character. They are usually on larger paper and over 50 pages in length without any advertising. The standard comic book still exists as a 20 to 30 page (including ads) episode in the serialized continuing life of the characters.

I haven’t collected comics in twenty years, but I still see them on newstands and thumb through them once in a while. The art seems especially poor today compared to 20 years ago. The 80’s still seem like the heyday of comics to me. Writers and artists were paid big money compared to the 60’s and 70’s. Comic book prices went from 25 cents to over a dollar in that decade, were printed on high quality paper and with beautiful ink processes — in short, you saw where the extra money went. The best talent at Marvel and DC left and started their own companies like Image. Ah, I’m tempted to dig out my boxes of comics that have been bagged and boarded for 20 years just to admire the artwork.

I seem to remember that he made it out of the blanket he was wrapped up in as a baby when he was launched from Krypton?

The jeans would burn off the first time he flew really fast! Lex Luther would only laugh when he showed up.

Yup. Streaky was Supergirl's pet who ran into one of her experiments. That "Last Son of Krypton" thing wears a little thin when you figure he's got his cousin (Kara, Supergirl), his pet dog (sent off in an earlier experiment before Krypton exploded), the entire city of Kandor (thanks to criminal android Brainiac), all of the Kryptonians in the Phantom Zone and Survival Zone (thugs in the former, Superman's uncle Zor and Aunt in the latter), etc.
