My PBS station has not broadcast their Sunday night Masterpiece Theater for the last couple of weeks due to a fundraising drive,
But their national website has streamed episodes of Poirot for Online viewing as normal, the following day,
To my happy surprise they aired 'The Third Girl' which is a "new" one for me:

I adore the whole Poirot series they are doing on PBS. It’s must see tv for us.
We first watched Poirot on PBS, but they stopped running them after a time. I now watch them on netflix, in case you’re interested. They also have Morse, Midsommer Murders, Miss Marple, A Touch Of Frost, etc.
If you are a Netflix member, I just noticed tonight they’ve got the ‘Midsimmer Murders’ series up got streaming (again?)
We are absolute maniacs in my house for Agatha Christie. But some are better than others.
IMHO, the Joan Hickson Miss Marple are far and away the best AC Mysteries ever produced. They have an actual feel for the time than gives them an authenticity for older England. For instance, she quotes the bible regularly and acts just like an old fashioned fussy old spinster would act.
The newer ones are “updated” to leave this feeling out. Plus they play absolute havoc with the books. In the Poirot series they actually made a character gay that wasn’t in the books.
My personal fave is Nemesis. “Let justice roll down like everlasting streams”.
The endless fundraising drives...
I don’t agree on (the Suchet) Poirot’s being gay. One of the mysteries, focusing on a Belgian case when he was still on the police force, shows that he was utterly smitten with a young lady. And it is suggested that he continued to wear throughout his career the gift (a Victorian boutonniere pin) she gave him for his help on that case. Eccentric and persnickety don’t always spell gay.
I absolutely love Poirot and Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett), I can get these on Netflix.
Murder on the Orient Express is my favorite.
Also a fan. As for ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ - he shoulda let them go.
Yes, I loved ‘Nemesis’ too. I found it to have a different feel than most of the otherMarple mysteries. And the look in her eyes at the end, when the lines about Nemesis were quoted..you could actually see an otherworldly vengeance in her eyes. Great acting!

I have watched about three of these and really liked them, too, although they seem compelled to be Modern and throw a Politically Correct character into each.
I wasn’t talking about Poirot. I was talking about the episode they did of Death on the Nile where they made one of the characters gay.
Agatha Christie would never have mentioned such a thing out loud in public, and certainly not Miss Marple or Poirot. They would hint at it, and talk around it (Joan Hickson - could you just imagine her face - she would Never say such a thing) but an overt mention, no.
But you can see, Miss Marple for all her fluffiness has a core of impeccable principle. I've seen that comes only with strong doctrine and bible reading. It's more than, this is right, this is wrong. It's an absolute strength when dealing with evil that others don't even recognize.
I don't know how the writers got it into the script, but it's there. And only with the ones with Joan Hickson in it. "He wanted justice for the dead girl. He chose me because he knew I wouldn't flinch."
Whoa, I misquoted. I meant the Joan Hicksons are Christian oriented, while the others aren’t.
All the Joan Hicksons have that quiet strength.
Oh, O.K., you mean instant watching. I was just referring to viewing them at all, given that they are so expensive to buy.
Netflix has a series called ‘New Tricks’ that they had the first two seasons, but eventually replaced with the third and fourth seasons, abut only on DVD.
But it’s a amusing little “put out to pasture” Brircop detective series, and I recommend it, if your membership includes DVDs.
I’m still hoping they’ll eventually stream the ‘Morse’ series....>;o)
Ahhhhh. Thanks for clarifying. I like Hixon, too—easily the most believable of the many. (Margaret Rutherford & Helen Hayes were TERRIBLE.)
