Unless my rememberer has experienced an ionizing radiation single-event latchup, I believe they use depleted uranium as ballast to get the car up to start-specs. SO, yeah, every oz at the end of the race counts dearly.

I looked it up:
The weight of the car must not be less than 640kg at all times during the event. For 2011 only, the weight applied on the front and rear wheels must not be less than 291kg and 342kg respectively at all times during the qualifying practice session
If, when required for checking, a car is not already fitted with dry-weather tyres, it will be weighed on a set of dry-weather tyres.

Oh yeah. These two look better than some of the young-uns (IMO).
Boring race though, except when Alonso had that awesome pit stop and was able to stay in front of Webber.
Fox coverage blew. No pre-race, and only Vettel in the post-race. Weak.
Montreal took too long last race, so my DVR didn’t pick up the ending.
