Did anybody see Ben Stein with Laura Ingraham on O'Reilly tonight? (Vanity)

Posted on 06/29/2011 9:04:14 PM PDT by conservativebuckeye

Ben Stein was on with Laura Ingraham, who was filling in for BOR. He was on there advocating massive tax increases on the wealthy. He claimed that the greatest economic growth in our nation's history occurred when taxes on the wealthy were highest. I always thought he was a smart guy, but I guess I was wrong. Did he sleep through the 80s?

I saw it and was disgusted by how he’s become a Menshevik/Bolshevik. I used to like him.

I was shocked to hear him too. Sometimes I wonder what makes a person do a total flip-flop. Someone have dirt on him? obama needs someone to agree with him & if it's from the right ALL the media will report that the republicans are in total disagreement on taxes.

He sold out long ago. I’m sure he knows the truth, but he wins points with Hollywood pals if he tells the lies on TV.

Also, he fails to mention that Federal spending as a percentage of GDP was lower than it is today.

What’s strange, is he recently wrote an article stating that an increase on his taxes would be a punishment.

I didn’t see it but one thing everyone needs to think about is that is have the tax laws become where the wealthiest don’t pay any taxes? My guess is that is what he was trying to say.

Well for him I'll make an exception on higher taxes because he deserves some punishment for the bs arguments he was using tonight.

There are still a lot of Ben Stein fans around FR...

They seem to forget that he was all-in for Al Franken...

I’ve seen this idiot Stein on “The CBS Sunday Morning” show a number of times the last several years.

Stein’s conversion to moon-battery happened some time ago.
He once said, “Raise taxes on the rich.....the government needs the money.” Yeah, right. The guy is a friggin’ nut.

The truly “Wealthy” don’t pay taxes in the sense people refer too, and never have. Just like corporations, they simply pass on the cost of doing business to someone else, or incorporate, or set up a trust. They are those with the means to not only avert taxation, but are, in fact, those who write the tax laws.

The (rapidly eroding) middle class really pays all of the taxes (production class if you will). I suppose some could say that the “rich” pay taxes, but that depends on where you end middle class, and upperclass, and wealthy.

Claiming that one can “tax the wealthy” is like chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The truly wealthy are those who are doing the taxing. Just like the original concept of an income tax was meant to be upon the wealthy, the elite wrote not only the tax code, and the loopholes to allow themselves to incorporate (in order not be subject to the taxes), they convinced people to support the taxes that winded up only harming themselves.

By far and large, the sword of justice is foisted upon those who are trying to impose their own “justice” on someone else. Hence the lower class remains in the sullied state, because they are too busy trying to impose regulations on the elite, that they only end up hurting themselves, and the middle class suffers the collateral damage.

Oh really. So, TwoSwords, who do YOU think pays the majority of the taxes in the U.S.? Minorities and single mothers?

“What’s strange, is he recently wrote an article stating that an increase on his taxes would be a punishment.”

I have to look up the segment, but when liberals use the term “wealthy” they mean “elites” not upper middle class, so he probably doesn’t correlate that his statement could include himself.
