Ahhhh...'Poppy' is a very sweet name. My granddaughters called the hubby 'papa'...still do and they're 23 and 20...lol. For the 2 grandsons it's always been 'grandpa'.

Sun bleach is a good way to go (as long as the chlorine doesn't then turn it green...lol!)

Fridays off...does that mean a 4 day weekend for ya? Have a great Independence Day!

Wishing you a wonderful FRiday, Dubya!

Great to hear you are feeling better. Illness of unknown origins is very un-nerving!

This year I lost weight from 198 to 123 and it feels good

HOLY LODI!!! That...is a LOT of weight! Was it on purpose or from being ill? If you feel better that is great! I just hope you aren't 6' tall! :)

Happy Red Friday, Friends.

I’m going to see if a hard back up will help. I’m having trouble with posting and Fotki and Photobucket.

I’ll try to get back later.

Daisy has her 3rd class later today. We haven’t spent as much time with her as we should have. Hope the trainer doesn’t think she is stupid. LOL

Amy, I had a hard time to get mine to post just now. It kept taking me to the last of June instead of where the post should have gone. I kept trying and finally it posted. Wonder whats up with that?

Thank you ladies, for such a beautiful July Red Opening and also the pretty Pledge of Allegiance!

I’m hoping that rebooting will help.

"I've got things that will work,
I just can't find anything."
Necessity laborously giving birth to invention

Or what passes for it in suburbia
a 40plus scratching the back
of his gnarly middle aged head
and the work begins
slowly at first
somewhere under that spare tire
is a twenty-something buck
ready to answer the call

plans on paper become actualized
as he begins tearing up the garage
yes, the knees, neck, and back
they will hurt a little more tomorrow
than they used to

days pass, sweaty clothes
a trickle of blood from an unseen nailhead
and splinters, lots of splinters
needles have not seen that much fire since the day they were made

when the last nail is driven
the last board cut
the last screw turned
and the last flow of glue swells and drips away

a toast
made at 7:45 with black coffee, brown sugar
and a little sawdust floating on the top
at that moment, looking at the shelves, tables
and a workbench made from recycled 2X4s and reclaimed plywood
there is little else on Earth that tastes better

TRUE LOVE

Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

Matthew 22:37–39

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am, when an elderly gentleman, in his 80's, presented to have sutures (stitches) removed from his thumb.

He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him.

I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and to redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had a doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.

I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for awhile and that she was a victim of Alzheimer Disease.

As we talked, and I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him. "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"

He smiled as he patted my hand and said.. "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arms, and thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

Let there be love and let it begin with love in my heart
