The race director of a 100-mile ultra-marathon foot race through the Flathead National Forest has cancelled the event due to lingering snow ...the snow won't melt in time for the event scheduled for July 29.
postponing the race would pose problems with shortening daylight hours and increased grizzly bear activity.
One of the main public vistas in my neck of the woods usually gets plowed by the middle of July. This year, it isn’t happening at all. Lots of snow left in the NW.
That said, don't panic. None of us will be alive to see the next ice age in full swing. These cycles take thousands of years. Our descendents will have plenty of time to build igloos.
Say it after me ...Global ...

Warming
war ..... err .... war .... rrr .... ICE AGE!
(You're hopeless, sam)

“Only twice in recorded history has the region experienced this amount of snow depth so late in the year, Lamson said.”
