Casey Anthony, acquitted of charges that she murdered her daughter Caylee, filed an appeal today of her conviction that she lied to law enforcement officers.
The appeal came days before Anthony, 25, is scheduled to leave jail. She was sentenced to four years on four counts of lying to investigators about Caylee's death. Since she has already served three years and is credited for good behavior, she will be released from the Orange County jail on Sunday.
The jury that acquitted her of murder agreed that she broke the law when she told police she worked at Universal Studios, that she left her daughter with a babysitter named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, when she claimed that Caylee was missing, and when she claimed that Caylee was still alive and she had spoken to her on the phone July 15, 2008. None of those statements were true.

Did you see the story about the woman in Oklahoma who was attacked for looking like Casey Anthony? Her life (and those of women she resembles) is not going to be easy. Cue a tiny violin for her.
I’ve heard both the foreman of the jury and the young woman give their explanations as to why they acquitted her. I have to say that neither of them make one bit of sense. Basically, to them, it was all about George.
She was nearly killed, her truck rammed and flipped over and over....that drug crazed stalker could have killed her. Scary, but isolated and not a conservative.....likely an Obama voter.
Jose was allowed to give that opening statement full of lies that he never even attempted to get into evidence, yet they acquitted on that drivel.
I was informed that Casey was declared indigent, so could not pay for her defense...so, the people of Florida paid both sides....how about that?
You are correct, it was the trial of George Anthony. I’ve listened to enough of the explanations to know that if they could have convicted him, they would have.

They would never admit it, but I think that they all just wanted to go home......and not have to go thru all the bullshit "evidence" and lies again and again.
The easiest way to do that would just let Casey go...

Truthfully, I was hoping the Casey Anthony garbage was over.
Then she pulls this crap. Amazing.
That was my feeling also. They obviously didn’t think things through very well. And George was never charged with anything that Casey’s lawyers threw at him. The jury just believed all that cr*p without any evidence. Talk about a bunch of nit-wits.
Honestly I am glad it came on. I am very interested in getting involved in the innocence project. I don’t think it was crap. I think it was a really interesting case and will eventually make a lot of people think about the Justice System. I really am sorry if you or anyone else was offended by my comments. None were personal in any way. I am glad we had the chance to hash it out on FR. I thank you.
However on this appeal for lying. Casey almost has to do this , in her mind, as surely as her attorneys wants to keep the cash flow going from the state coffers to theirs in defending her. Even if the attorneys loose it's no skin off their noses...they still get the limelight and the money. And of course Casey's face is in the news once again, satisfying her great need for the focus of the world being on her....and the stories which will be written.
Certainly they explained to her that by not appealing these charges speaks of her guilt of delaying and such the investigation...who can also charge her. The judge has already mentioned the reimbursement possibilities for that. If she wins the appeal the police cannot press her for reinbursement.
So in order for Casey to completely clear her name she has to appeal...and thus to protect the future monies she makes for her story's...and you can be certain they will be forthcoming.
No matter the outcome...it's a win win for the attorneys...and in Casey's mind for her as well.
Can you imagine now ...the police investigators rage over this?...and now they will have to parade thru the courts...Casey's going to take them all out as we will see....and walk away smelling like a rose.
Her own lawyer in his closing arguments mentioned several times that Casey Anthony (his client) was a “liar and a slut.”
