Cats, Not Cars, Cause…Climate Change? (MEOW?)

Well, you can save your money and forget about buying that Prius. Because apparently cats, not cars, cause “climate change.” That’s the latest according to some research studies.

The problem is reportedly due to a cat “epidemic” in the U.S., where the entire feline population has tripled in the last four decades to some 600 million furry critters. The studies report that “global warming” prompts cats to breed like, well, rabbits, and once there’s an “overpopulation,” our furry feline friends start killing off eco-saving birds en masse.

Sounds like a lose, lose. Right?

MotherJones reports:

“Good think cats can’t operate a can opener...”

My cat came from a breeder whose goal is to create smart cats with thumbs. She’s not there yet, but he does have a thumb and uses it when he picks up his toys.

Libs sure don’t let facts get in the way of their illogical conclusions.

There are cat problems but they are all caused by people being irresponsible. Hoarders, people letting them go ‘in the country’ to form feral populations and people turning in pets because they get tired of them, that’s the main problems here.

THe libs’ conclusions such as banning all pet ownership, etc because of this (ie zero tolerance logic, TSA logic) instead of just hammering down hard on the obvious problem people, proves yet again you can give people facts but you can’t get them to come to a logcial conclusion.

Hogwash.

More and more kittehs are strictly indoor cats these days. I adopted two bitty kittehs earlier this year from a rescue group (kittehs came chipped and spayed)and I had to promise that they would be strictly indoor kittehs. I would never let my cats outside--there is heavy traffic on the street--busses, truck traffic, car traffic until 11.30 or so, and wild animals like raccoons and coyotes in the neighborhood.

I'm not alone. I see fewer and fewer kittehs walking around the neighborhood, but I do see them sitting in windows.

You must have a very weird cat, since you call it both "she" and "he." What breed is IT?

Yes, all pet cats should be kept indoors.

Cats left to roam outdoors have less than half the life expectancy of cats cared for in the house or apartment. Too many potentially lethal problems out there, ranging from motor vehicles to disease to attacks from larger animals.

Richard Gere. Wasn’t he married to a supermodel at one time? Cindy Crawford, I think it was. - My impression of him is that he was married to a supermodel, and I think he focused on the mole she had beneath her nose instead of the rest of her. I think he was a perfectionist who didn’t have a really realistic viewpoint about himself. - I once read in an interview with Debra Winger that the whole time she acted with him in “An Officer and a Gentleman” that he never spoke a word to her outside of his lines in the movie. Don’t know if that’s true or not. - I suppose he might have just been insecure, but he always impressed me as a bit vain what little attention I’ve paid to him in lo, these many years.

Stuffy the Slasher says “no way!” She is 12 yrs. old, a hunter and sort of wild; says she would be miserable living in the house with us humans. I think I shock her with static electricity; she acts like when I touch her it shocks her - so she is funny. Stuffy has her claws and has used them all her life to slash rowdy dogs and catch stuff to eat. The dogs, surprisingly, love her to distraction, and she also loves them. Half Persian, half Siamese and aloof, but loving in a wierd sort of way.
