The investigation is complete in regards to a Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy who shot a family dog while responding to a burglary call.
That report says the deputy made the right decision to use a gun rather than a taser or pepper spray due to the dangerous threat.
The dog's family says they didn't even know the deputy had been cleared, until we contacted them today.
For the past two weeks, Renee Lewis says complete strangers have been reaching out to her family, after the death of their dog Daisy.
There's plenty of photos of the Labrador retriever that the family is holding onto, and they've even taken in a baby chocolate Labrador, but what happened to Daisy on June 18th is not something they can forget.

It was dark? He thought it was a Pit Bull? Hot breath, but no teeth?
I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. Anyone who does this to one of my family pets is a dead person walking. The only questions are where, when, and how.
The cops are a gang who investigate themselves.
Why not let street gangs do the same? Every time a Crip or Blood shoots a police dog let their fellow gang members decide if is was a “good shoot”.
Was the dog the burglar?
I knew the second I read the title that the police dept had okayed this.
Yep.
Dittos to that Lurk.
There are so many sad stories of cops coming to peoples homes and the first thing they do is shoot the family dog. Last posting here a couple of days ago the cop shot a dog that was chained up. The cop shot it from 30 feet away.
Karma is a b!tch... maybe some meth head will break into that cops world and shoot someone close to him.

If I ever have the occasion to have to call the police (and I really cannot think of any reason to have those trigger-happy clowns on my property), I am going to forewarn them that I have two dogs and neither are aggressive under any circumstances, and that the sheriff deputies are not to harm them in any way. And I mean it.
Oh yes. If they don’t like the tone or content of what I say, then don’t come.
double ditto
“Our internal investigation indicates Deputy Kochsucher was hopped up on steroids and Viagra. There is NO WAY he wasn’t shooting SOMETHING. These civilians should thank Deputy Kochsucher for not waiting until they returned home and then shooting them. Deputy Kochsucher has been cleared of all wrong doing, promoted and given 2 weeks off with pay. These civilians better hope their alarm doesn’t “go off accidentally” in the future or we’ll be there to protect and serve. Now shut your pieholes and get back to work, we need some new MP5s.”
Doesn’t matter - if the snowflake cops think they’re being threatened they’ll shoot the dog. In one case they actually chased a dog around the inside of a house and shot it when it was cowering under a bed. I personally have no use whatsoever for cops. Dated one once - egotistical bas**rd.
>>IMHO...when the thugocracy starts shooting the pets at will...its one step away from the kids<<
Hate to tell you, but...
Goes for me too. And it will be handled “off-the-books”, so to speak...
There seems to be a new kind of police these days. I don't much care for it.
